I hope the Obama campaign reads and regurgitates Sullivan's essay verbatim.

Guys like Scarborough, Sullivan and Huntsman make me realize there is still quality thinkers in the party that left me that I haven't left (yet).

It's great that that came out the same day Romney was video taped singing Who Let The Dogs Out.

If I'm not mistaken that happened in '08.

Or earlier; it was definitely floating around during the 2008 primaries.

Appealing to the worst instincts and urges seems to be a less surprising strategy to win when you say "Of a subset of voters who are Republican Primary voters IN SOUTH CAROLINA. I mean, I know we're supposed to say that the country is post-racial and all that, but c'mon. These people are voting Newt because they liked the way he "put Juan Williams in his place" and have a fantasy wherein he will "put Obama in his place" in debates. That's a lot of the motivation, in SC. The more a candidate is not afraid to have the dogwhistles make sounds that actual people can hear, the better they do there, R-wise. This has been the case for a while.

Also, they've constructed a myth that the President is an empty suit in front of a socialist TelePrompTer that gets its speeches beamed in from Bill Ayers in an underground bunker and that he's some kind of intellectual lightweight. I have been disappointed by him in a lot of specific issues and legislative battles, maneuvers and process issues, but they guy is brilliant. They're running against a fiction.

Man, Mitt Romney is so not a closer.  He somehow managed to lose both Iowa and South Carolina in the same week.

Speech and venue aside, the moment with Rep. Giffords was incredibly moving:

I know he was crazy and not in control of himself and all that, but I see that mugshot of that Laughner kid and I want to split open his head with a lead pipe.
