 Yeah, there are similarities. The fake-tech patterns on the sides.

 The costume looks like if I were to touch it, it would feel like a tire. The other costumes would feel like slick black dolphins. Yes, so slick.

 OK so here's the final tally of Juan's sensory Batman experiment. The Dark Knight: Rusty brown tire. BATMAN: a black and slippery aquatic mammal.

I like it. It's definitely in keeping with the "make it seem real" rule that has been in effect through every aspect of the films to date.

Also, it makes the Begins suit look soft and cartoony by comparison.  Yeah, it's a bit too busy, but like JCEFalconi said, there'll be plenty of shadows to hide that.  

Speaking of which, I agree with you, JCEFalconi, about the color palette.  I dig the city itself being very brown, because it makes it seem dingy, rusty, and run down industrial. But it also makes Batman himself look too brown, which is quite unfortunate.  It's still better than the confetti you spoke of in B&R, but I would prefer a bit more straight-up BLACK.

I haven't liked ANY of the movie batsuits.  All the armor makes Batman seem weak.  I'd prefer an Alex Ross type fabric realism -- and to have Batman constantly shredded as a result.  He's supposed to be stealthy and ninja-ish, no?  Ninjas don't wear all that armor.

That said, I loved BATMAN BEGINS and the new movie looks like it's going to be most excellent.

I haven't liked ANY of the movie batsuits.  All the armor makes Batman seem weak.  I'd prefer an Alex Ross type fabric realism -- and to have Batman constantly shredded as a result.  He's supposed to be stealthy and ninja-ish, no?  Ninjas don't wear all that armor.

That said, I loved BATMAN BEGINS and the new movie looks like it's going to be most excellent.

I don't mind the idea of a tricked-out armor Batman in BEGINS; it is, after all, a kind of 'reimagining/reset," and all that.

But what I'd looove to see would be a live action Batman series set in an indeterminate 1940s art-deco time period, with Studebaker-style cars in the world, and people in suits and hats, shot in black and white, with a fabric-real suit, stressing the whole "world's greatest detective" angle. Like, a noir show that was actually noir, Sam Spade style, not nu-noir.

Out of al the batman films, I would say that without a doubt, Batman Begins spends the most amount of time focusing on the suit.  Of course, that would because they gave the suit an origin.  I'm sure they'll show upgrades being made in the new movie, but I doubt they'll focus on the suit that much.

One last comment, as a teenager, I thought Robocop was one of the best action movies of all time.  
Today, I think Robocop is one of the best over-the-top comedies of all time.  I can't think of Robocop with out seeing Red Foreman eneter a room and say "Bitches, leave."
