Twitter has been saying that the test screenings have been bad for this, and Twitter has never been wrong ever. So there's that, too.

I'm betting he gets killed early.
You called it. Kind of.

Nikki Finke also said that, and she's also never been wrong, ever. Unless you count the times where she's wrong and then quickly deletes it to scrub all appearances of being wrong from the Internet. I don't understand how this could be THAT bad, especially since people loved the shitty first one so much. How bad does something have to be that the Borg Collective actually recognizes it as such?

If this movie is worse than THE RISE OF COBRA, that's almost an achievement in a way.

Everything in that Finke article sounds like the kind of stupidity that I can't believe exists on a corporate level. Or maybe I can believe... I just blindly wish weren't true.

So it sounds like they had a good movie (Tatum gets killed quick, on to other characters, YAY!) but then they had to re-do a lot of it because he's been in other movies.
Where are you getting that it was a good movie?

Well, the preview looked promising. And the idea of little-to-no Tatum made me hopeful.

I never liked Tatum because he always had that same "someone decided to put their personal trainer in movies" thing that Vin Diesel has, but JUMP STREET made me a fan of his. He's like Wahlberg where he has a weird knack for comedy and doesn't realize that that should be his primary focus.

But Whalberg has been really good in a bunch of things. FEAR was an amazing performance that elevated a dopey yuppie-nightmare script into something better than it should have been. The only other person who pulled that off with a similar script was Michael Keaton in PACIFIC HEIGHTS.

FEAR is pretty terrible. Third base on a roller coaster, Marky Mark beating his own chest, and the "now I popped both your cherries" are all silly. It's one of my "I can't believe I ever remotely liked that movie" movies.

FEAR is awesome because it's so over the top. Wahlberg is awesome in it, but it took his next movie to see if he was in on the joke in FEAR.
Channing Tatum is the best thing about 21 JUMP STREET, the dude has amazing timing and delivery. I liked him in GI JOE and THE DILEMMA (the ONLY good thing in the movie, but he's amazing in it).

I guess he was all right in GI JOE, if I were able to get past my 5th/6th grade purist view of how Duke should be-- the adult in the room, the guy who you know *must* have been a kid at one point, but you just never THINK of as being a kid, ever, since he's so very much the adult in charge who never loses his cool. I can't get past that, which is more my problem than his. Like, I tap out at the *casting* of a Channing Tatum type for the role, which isn't fair, I guess.
