50% Criterion DVDs/Blu Ray.  I thought maybe some of you would like the heads up.  Sale's on till the 30th.  I kinda went a little overboard last night....

Plus, I ordered the Robert Downey Eclipse set.

I picked up YOJIMBO and HAROLD AND MAUDE.

I love working at B&N. They're good to their employees.

I've kind of burned through everything I wanted in the last batch of sales and I'm waiting on new releases to build back up again. September/October is THE GAME, ROSEMARY'S BABY and a few others, so the November sale is going to be wonderful.

I was going to upgrade my SALO DVD to the Blu-ray, but stopped myself when I realized how I didn't want to have to explain to anyone that I own two copies of SALO.

That hapened to me last sale, but in that time I got a bluray player and now I'm back on the horse.

fuck yes, I can finally buy a copy of that 'Play Time' blu-ray I've had my eye on.  There are others I might go for, but I need that one.

Just a heads up to all you wonderful people that the Criterion site itself is having a 50% off sale till noon tomorrow (Tuesday September 25th) with the discount code FLASH in the shopping cart.

I know this sounds nuts, but the thing I'm tempted to grab above all is BROADCAST NEWS, which is a great set.

I took out a copy from the library a few months ago. Brooks still sounds as pissed about that crew member blowing the "alternate ending" as he probably did back in '87. Though truly the fates intervened, because that was an awful ending.

I didn't realize there was a 12 ANGRY MEN Criterion out there. So many choices!

On top of the stuff in that image I posted, I also ended up picking up CHE, the BBS boxset, NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, and DOWN BY LAW last sale.  Please talk me out of logging on the site and ordering THE GAME, BLOW OUT, and QUADROPHENIA....

Does it apply to pre-orders? Because I kind of want both "Eating Raoul" and "Heaven's Gate".

I don't think it does. The first thing I tried to do was pre-order THE QATSI TRILOGY, and the code didn't work.

Amazon shipped me THE GAME last week, even though it evidently doesn't come out until tomorrow. As far as features go, its essentially identical (with a few key exceptions) to the old Criterion laser, but it's still great.

The BLOW OUT release is stellar. It's easily the best the movie has ever looked. It's one of their best looking catalog releases, too, tied with SOMETHING WILD I think. For movies that were both shot on pretty shitty film stocks, they look great.

Also, how did I miss that they're releasing a Criterion QATSI TRILOGY? That is awesome.

It just got announced last week, so you're not *that* out of the loop.

I'm sort of annoyed that I can't just buy KOYAANISQATSI, but at the same time if they told me I had to pay the same $80 price (or whatever it is) for just that one I'd probably do it, so it doesn't matter. I'm just choosing to look at it as "I'm paying $80 for one movie I love and getting two movies I don't like at all for free!"

I had it in my B&N shopping cart during the last sale but got called away from the computer before completing the transaction and forgot all about it until a week or so ago.   Sometimes the universe takes pity.

I went back and forth between "Blow Out" and "Broadcast News" as my "kick it over to save on shipping" pick.  I prefer "Broadcast News", but I kind of think "Blow Out" would be better served by a Blu-Ray.
