I'd like to see this story linked someplace without everyone making the same zombie joke. It sounds horrible.

This is the definition of gallows humor. Clearly, the idea of an adult human being, naked on the side of a highway with another naked human being, both of whom were once babies with all the world before them and a clean slate and a field of limitless potential, chewing the other's face off and then being shot more out of sheer revulsion and terror than threat is a human tragedy and squalor that there are no words to describe.
So you make zombie jokes because to do otherwise is to ponder the unthinkable.

Jeez don't make me laugh at a zombie joke just to make me feel bad about it a post later.

Reading that article, I'm reminded of the idea of a zombie outbreak and am decidedly not amused by the thought.

WTF in which direction? The original article, or my response to Donnacha's moral chiding?

Moral chiding? I'm pretty sure Donnacha means that the title of this thread would be similar to posting: Day Zero of the Planet of the Apes.

Crazy shit happens all the time, it's a fucked up world. It's not like Dobbin was posting pictures of the incident or anything. I think it's weird that this is the one that everyone's getting all pearl-clutchy over.

The thing I find disturbing (aside from the horiffic event) is that it appears to some people the zombie thing isn't a joke. Some idiots seem to actually believe it.

the revolution will not be zombified, they'll be taking your water and fuel not your flesh.

Woah! I just looked at the picture of the guy with the chewed off face. Not for the faint of heart.

Is there really a new recreational drug called bath salts that causes people to do this? Really? http://abcnews.go.com/US/face-eating-attack-possibly-linked-bath-salts-miami/story?id=16451452Okay, see? That's kind of chilling right there. Someone in that article compares it to LSD which is sort of naively misleading. If I understand correctly, it's like some kind of ultra meth. This is meth for people who think that good, old fashioned crystal meth just isn't hard enough. And it adds just a hint of The Ladder from JACOB'S LADDER. Super meth which boils people's insides and can cause them to turn feral and even cannibalistic? Sounds like a real party. And, hey. Why not make zombie comments? That's essentially what the afflicted is on this shit.
