Anyone buying in?  I would immediately if they did new releases, but I think this is a step in the right direction to bolster readership.

They won't do new releases because it would seriously hurt comic retailers, if you could just pay $10 a month and read all the newest comics. I downloaded the app earlier and posted this on Facebook:

I've been poking around the archives. It seems like mostly recent comics, with some random comics here and there from the 20th century. The Uncanny X-Men archive, for example, starts in 2004. I'd love to be able to start with issue #1 in 1964 and just start reading from the beginning, but it's not possible to do that yet. I know we can't expect them to have decades worth of comics available from the get-go, but once they fill in the gaps a bit more the subscription cost will be more worth it.

Also, it seems a little buggy. I can read one comic, but then when I try to open a second issue I get an error message that it couldn't load. I have to force-close the app and restart it in order to read another issue.

This was the other thing I was afraid of.

Yeah, it seems like there will be a verrry graaaaadual rollout of archive titles/runs.  But it might be worth subscribing to when you have some downtime and you want to catch up on a few years' worth of stories.  Being able to read the entire Civil War run in a few weekends would be awesome.

On the Marvel and Conixology apps today they're having a sale today where all their #1 comics (700 of them) are all free. I have me some downloading to do!

Edit: and if anybody would be so kind as to throw out some suggestions.

Spoke too soon. I think perhaps everyone is downloading these right now. I can't get any of the Marvel #1 issues, I just get download errors.
