They probably won't call him "Ant-man" and will wedge the name in there awkwardly at some point.

Imagine if they'd had Hank in this Avengers movie--those armored worm things would've been taken care of much more handily.
Yeah, he won't be Ant-man or Giant-man, he'll be Hank Pym and Iron Man'll call him Ant-Man to give him shit.

I'll believe that movie's happening when they begin shooting it.

I would like to see Giant Man in the sequel, if only for a scene where Hulk climbs up him like in Shadow of the Colossus so he can punch him in the face.

And considering Joe Cornish has to have some new opportunities after Attack The Block and Edgar Wright is doing Kolchak: The Night Stalker with Johnny Depp (and I'll believe THAT happens when they begin shooting), I'm guessing Ant-Man's a non-starter. I'd guess Marvel will take Wright & Cornish's script and pass it off to another director.

Council hires unprincipled scientist Hank Pym to make robots for them. Ultron goes Skynet. Hank uses his other "prototype" invention to join the Avengers in the final fight and redeem himself.
What other big Avengers storylines are there? Baron Zemo?

Zemo could work. He could be Dr. Zola's son.

The time travelling guy might work, Kang? Or just have Hulk flip out.

I know people who I consider intelligent and thoughtful who think Avengers was super stupid. One such fellow said it was full of the "dumbest shit ever to appear in film" and how he thinks Coulson is "The guy literally none of the Avengers liked" which makes his death meaningless. Thought the main characters being "overfamiliar" was to the film's detriment. He thought Cap saying "Son, don't even think about it" was a stupid line. One among many. As in, he actively hated the dialogue.
It's like we saw two different movies.

Gotta tell you, I wasn't crazy about: "Son, just... don't". It was too sassy for Cap, but when Loki orders him to kneel and he kicks him in the face while saying "Not Today!", that was pretty rad.

One of my favorite bits of dialogue was the "Put on the suit" bit.

I think DARK SHADOWS will kill any Depp-starring 70s-cult-TV-horror-show revival.

The Coulson thing was kind of a stretch as a rallying point for the characters. Only Stark and Thor knew him before this movie and it wasn't like either of them was that close to him. I think Whedon just needed something like that to bring them all together and had to work with what he had.

They're still heroes, though. Based on that, they don't exactly need a person connection with someone who isn't a villain to care about them.
And he did die trying to save everyone, in a "I'm totally about to die but fuck it" kind of situation.
And Cap knew him as his biggest fan. And Hawkeye and Widow knew him because he was in SHIELD.
The only one who didn't really know him was Banner, who wasn't actually there when it happened and never acknowledges it anyway.
