Next time Nate questions my positioning of a movie, I'm stealing Brian's move and just telling him to shut up. I didn't know we could do that!

Oh, Brandon. Now you're making everyone feel like Joey Bishop, circa 1962.

This thread turned douche-y, which 1994 certainly was not.  Way to be reverse-meta, guys.  Which is also NOT 1994-ish.

Wait, now I've got it -- this thread sure DEGENERATED, didn't it?

I feel like such a music poseur that I honestly prefer the Airheads version of the song to the Reagan Youth one.

To be fair though, you make everyone feel like they are Eddie Murphy circa 1983.

Strang knows how everyone feels despite years of everyone telling Strang that he shows no sign of knowing how anyone feels.  He's a cool cat IRL though, right?

I just put HUDSUCKER as #1 on my Netflix queue. It will probably be reshuffled subsequent to that. I think when I watched it previously, it might have preceded me having any real familiarity with the Coen Bros. That's how far back it goes. But it being lower than WOLF or GENERATIONS does indeed feel wrong.

More like perhaps I didn't enjoy it because I wasn't tuned to the proper frequency for it.

I'm still not seeing what the problem is here. The Coen Brothers have a very idiosyncratic sensibility and sense of humor that I hadn't previously experienced in 1994 and was probably too much in Jim Carrey mode at the time to fully appreciate. I think there's a good chance I might like it more now because I've seen and enjoyed the rest of their work in the years since. This seems totally reasonable in my head. I have no idea why this has earned me a vigorous Stranging.

Becuase we then feel racially and sexually insensitive?

I'm pretty sure it's entirely because he is taking this "because" as if it's modifying the "like it" as opposed to the "I think".  Now that it's settled that you aren't saying that, we can table the matter and get back to 'Airheads'.

I hope you don't hold this against 'Hudsucker'.

I just like that Dobbin turns into Steve Martin in PLANES, TRAINS when he responds to Strang.

Don't pass this off on me! I don't care what you think of HUDSUCKER. What bothers me is that you thought KILLING ZOE was good.

You think you're a poser, I didn't even know that wasn't an original song until right now.

Me neither.  I guess that finally settles the raging "So did he write it for her or not?!" debate.

So OK, and I realize this is not a world anyone wants to imagine, but what if The Coen Brothers never made anything else. Just The Hudsucker Proxy. You would never find this frequency?

I'm pretty sure it's entirely because he is taking this "because" as if it's modifying the "like it" as opposed to the "I think".

Are squinty modifiers more or less hilarious than zealous misinterpretations?
