Lena Dunham is really likable. The first episode was great.

Yeah huh. Even you probably have it. Maybe not in HD like us, but you have it.

I like it but it's like watching a television show beamed from another planet.

When she says "thank you papa" when her dad compliments her writing, I lost it. I don't think I will ever recover. It was the funniest thing of the night and Celebrity Apprentice had them playing puppets.

If you didn't like Tiny Furniture, you probably won't love this. I'm actually a fan of TF and Girls, in spite of my main gripe with both. That gripe being the fact that they're all about a bunch of Fart-with-a-beard New Yorkers.

I like both a lot as well. But if you don't like FURNITURE, yeah, you probably won't like this.
I was hoping she'd do a different character, even ever-so-slightly, but no one's seen TINY FURNITURE so it's okay.

Criterion actually just put out a really nice edition of Tiny Furniture with a bunch of her short films as well.

Nothing she said was correct. It doesn't air Thursday. SEX & THE CITY had Samantha in three-and-four ways all the time. The was not the opening scene. She didn't go home to her boyfriend. Nobody had an abortion. What was she watching?

I think it's bullshit that people are calling Dunham's success nepotism - she's really fucking talented - but the Criterion thing definitely strikes me as the result of some art world connections. Are there any other contemporary small critically-appreciated films that didn't really get a theatrical run getting Criterion collections 18 months after hitting festivals?

The last Todd Solondz movie comes to mind. And 'Che'. Apparently, there are more than you might think: ANTICHRIST, FISH TANK, and HUNGER are the only ones I recognize off hand, but there's a whole bunch of 2008 movies they've put out. I think they've changed their model a bit because distributors aren't releasing as many Blu-rays as they did DVDs.
