"I think Jeff would be into it if the script is good and so long as the the Weinstein Company is nowhere near it."
Anyone know Jeff's beef with the Weinsteins?

If it was just money I don't think he would say "so long as the the Weinstein Company is nowhere near it". Because if they came up with the money he wanted he would do it then.

Wasn't Jeff Anderson's movie "Now You Know" produced (or picked up) by TWC?
Maybe there's some issues from that.

Can Kevin even do anything with CLERKS without some degree of Weinstein involvement?

Nope. Miramax owns "Clerks". Disney owns Miramax. Weinsteins have nothing to do with it anymore.

TWC released CLERKS II, so I thought they were at least stakeholders to some degree.

But isn't the whole thing that he felt kind of fucked out of some cash off the original CLERKS? Which I assume had to do with the Weinstein's? Isn't that why he was absent from CLERKS to DOGMA? I just assumed there was still some hurt from that period, but you're right - TWC did put out CLERKS II, so it's probably just a combination of a lot of things.

I always hear stories about the Weinstein's creative accounting. Adam Carolla talks about it when talking about his movie THE HAMMER. The movie was super low budget, he paid for it himself for the most part, and it had zero advertising. However, every time he gets any feedback from them, they are still "in the red" on the movie, and Adam hasnt seen a penny from it.

I think his issue was that Clerks made tons and tons of money while he and the rest of the cast presumably made nothing or close to it, no?
At any rate, this feels like a silly workaround to his self-imposed retirement from film. I felt like the characters and some of the actors were way out of their element in a movie the size of Clerks II, I don't know how they'll do on a Broadway stage.

I think it's a great idea. The movies take place in one location anyway, it's a fun idea.

He also said they might bring back Clerks: The Cartoon next year. I'm not getting my hopes up, though. I believed in that animated Clerks movie for way too long.

Nah; Kevin's talked about doing Clerks or something Clerks-ish on stage for years.
