Wow. Big year for DeNiro. BRONX TALE, THIS BOY'S LIFE and MAD DOG AND GLORY, all in the same year.

I haven't seen enough of 'This Boy's Life' to rank it, but I have seen enough to know he's scary-good in it.  And he's really good and non-De Niro-y in the other two.

Derick, you think that little of THE FUGITIVE? And even less of WAYNE'S WORLD 2? Jumpin' Jehoshaphat.

He's so great in it. It is one of my favorite performances of his; he captures a certain kind of person so perfectly. Especially since it could easily go into caricature, but he doesn't. It is one of those roles that make you realize why he's such a big deal.

sean has THE FUGITIVE pretty low as well. I guess I've always taken as a given that it was universally accepted as being amazing.

Yes. That proves it. Keep in mind though that Sean loves the the Terence Malick biopic of Sam Sheppard starring Martin Sheen and dying birds and Derick loves The Fugitive 2: One Armed Justice.

Oh, and Red Rock West was 1994.

You know, the weird thing about "Red Rock West" is that I swear I remember it premiering on either HBO or Showtime in late '92, before it played in any theaters.  And it took an unusually long time to hit VHS.

The funny thing is, I've actually softened on it.  I was really bored by it in '93, but I've come around to realize it's fairly watchable as a background thing.

But it is fairly well regarded, and was even nominated for best picture that year.

Oddly, TURTLES III wasn't called TURTLES IN TIME, even though it would have been a no-brainer.  Not sure who dropped the ball there.

I thought 'Braindead' was the other one, I didn't realize 'Dead Alive' came out so late over here.  To the edit button!

"Turtles in Time" was a video game. I was mistaken.

I'm surprised at how low so many people on this board have LAST ACTION HERO, what's not to love about it? I mean, sure the kid isn't that great, but he doesn't really get in the way either.

And BEVERLY HILLBILLIES is worth watching for Jim Varney's Jed alone. Unlike pretty much every single other person in the entire movie, he actually made his character seem believable and real and human, which is an amazing feat considering the circumstances.
