I can't fathom people who see The Hudsucker Proxy and hate it. Jennifer Jason Leigh is so bloody perfect in that film!

I've only seen it once, 18 years ago, but I remember thinking that it seemed bleak and depressing and overly serious for a movie being advertised as "a madcap romp!".   A definite expectation let down at the time, but I see that Netflix has it so maybe I'll give it another chance.

I envy the ability to see it for the 1st time that you have. I don't think I can overhype it for you; it is just that good. (MILLER'S CROSSING, I mean. I can take or leave HUDSUCKER.)
