From the IMDb trivia page for 'Patch Adams':

The song "Faith of the Heart" performed in this film by Rod Stewart, was later used as theme song of Star Trek: Enterprise.

That does kind of change my mind.

ARMAGEDDON falls into your "great" category? I'm not giving you a bad time about it, I'm just surprised.
I understand that Armageddon is a prime example of rotten all-flash-no-substance terrible manipulative rubbish. However, I find it ridiculously entertaining rubbish. Any scene played sincerely is comic gold, and it's edited so tightly and shot so well that the flat moments fly by.

In anticipation of Wolfe giving us a new year tomorrow, a compiled top ten of 1998 (and updated as more lists come in):

1. Rushmore
2. The Big Lebowski
3. Out Of Sight
4. Saving Private Ryan
5. The Truman Show
6. Lethal Weapon 4
7. Babe: Pig In The City
8. Buffalo '66
9. Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas
10. American History X

(the non-American releases and Josh's made up movies were skipped and technically the last two are a tie)

Starting with Pleasantville I'm not too choked up.  Starting with Celebrity I think they're pretty terrible.  But by far Patch Adams is the movie I hate worst in the world.  I think it is as ripe for ridicule as The Room, and much less likable.

Hey! You can watch the whole thing on Youtube:

John Cusak, Michael Ironsides, Gillian Anderson, Michael Shannon, John C. Rielly, Julianne Moore, Pearl Jam on the soundtrack. It is not as good as I remember it, but at the time it really blew me away, as I didn't know what to expect, minute to minute.

Dalton, I'm surprised you rank Orgazmo so low. It's definitely Parker/Stone's worst movie, but I still think it definitely has their sensibility and plenty of funny stuff.

Most of these movies I haven't seen in 14 years.  Orgazmo is one of them.  Maybe if I saw it again I'd like it more.  I remember the production values being pretty bad, and I'm not a fan of that little guy whoever he is.

I don't think I've ever heard your take on the Coen brothers, John.

I'd say give it another shot. The production values are bad, but if I'm being generous, I argue that that's to intentionally give it the feel of a bad Cinemax 3 AM movie. I doubt that's true, it's mostly just Trey Parker fanboy-ism.

I think FARGO and NO COUNTRY are two of the top 20 films of all time.  But I find some of their work to be lacking in humanity.  Which is strange because I don't find that at all about FARGO or NO COUNTRY.   I'm also a fan of A SERIOUS MAN.

I would think you would love MILLER'S CROSSING. Everyone should love MILLER'S CROSSING, though.

I actually think the random Coen movie that would strike John's fancy would be 'Hudsucker Proxy'.  (I love both, but I'm a sucker for them in general.)
