Does that mean BURN AFTER READING is due for a cult following?

If Jordy has his idiotic way, it will be Ladykillers.

I didn't realize Run Lola Run came out stateside in '99. After reviewing I also see The Boxer came out in the states on December 31st, 1997. I was trying to go by US release dates only.

Why? Were you already here by then?

Fargo was the first of their movies I saw, so when Lebowski came out I was like "what was that shit?"

I forget to consider that no one saw The Hudsucker Proxy before The Big Lebowski. Never mind before Fargo. Until Ladykillers, I thought Fargo was their worst. Of course, that's like saying milk chocolate is the worst chocolate.

What was he supposed to do Derick? Not rap? It was the 90s.

It's definitely their worst but it's still not bad. And cults have formed for lesser movies that don't have a moment that made me laugh the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. "...if I may offer a riddle"

Are you guys counting BLOOD SIMPLE? That's always been at the bottom of my list of theirs.

There's more to the movie than that.  I think it's one of the best political satires ever made.  Up there with NETWORK and DR. STRANGELOVE.

I'm still not convinced this isn't one of those things where you guys all sarcastically praise a movie and I think you're being sincere.

Janet Maslin is in on it too.

Except MARY. Still only makes me laugh once.

What's the one laugh you get? I still like the movie, but I've seen it so much I can't really laugh at it that much anymore. My favorite part now is probably when Matt Dillon stands up from behind his desk and his pants are unbuttoned.

I don't know about him, but "I work with retards" was the one thing in MARY that really made me laugh.

I had seen Arizona (loved) and Hudsucker (hated) before Lebowski, though I didn't know what a "Coen Brother" was at the time and didn't connect that they were all made by the same people until O Brother.  Still haven't seen Fargo.

What's the one laugh you get?

The look on his face when he commits to fighting the dog and does the elbow drop.

edit:  I seem to have misremembered there being a great shot of his facial expression at that moment, cuz I checked the clip on line and there sure ain't one now.  Without it, I didn't laugh at all.   Maybe I memory-merged that scene with some other Stiller movie.

No love for MILLER'S CROSSING? That was and remains my favorite thing they've ever done.

I hated that when I first saw it.  But I was young and probably didn't appreciate it.  I still haven't gotten around to revisiting it.

HUDSUCKER might be my favorite Coen movie.

It's awkward rapping with vague politics from a guy that magically becomes black. Literally the whole thing is this. Are white people afraid to say this is terrible or something?
