No, RANGO's got the pedigree.  I mean, I hope PUSS wins, but I doubt it.

It can really go either way.  The was a lot to like about RANGO (most of it technical) but when it comes down to it PUSS has the better story a was the more entertaining movie.  (and not that it's much of a factor, I thought PUSS had some of, if not the best character animation I've ever seen)

It was intteresting that TIN TIN won at the British Academy - partly because of the motion capture, and partly because of it being not too great.

I have to say, it will be a pleasure to see Best Director announced, no matter who wins.  Malick would be the nicest result, maybe.

(Isn't there a mistake in the list posted here though?  There are six, but I don't think Spielberg was nominated.)

Congrats Brian!

Meanwhile, this is the first year in a while where I've seen none of the Best Picture nominees.

I'm happy about the whole thing.  The two things I wanted to see happen happened.  PUSS for best animated and PARADISE LOST: PURGATORY for best doc.

Congratulations, Brian. Two songs only for Best Song? I really loved Man or Muppet anyway, so that's cool.

Wait, so did PARADISE LOST 3 get a theatrical release? Or are the rules different for documentaries?

This is not helping my OCD in regards to where to put the eventual DVD release on my shelf. Does it go in TV or with movies? I'll have something to mindlessly obsess over for the next few months...

Two songs only for Best Song?

Especially when this could've been nominated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxRKwKJI_uI&feature=related

The Academy can take a lot, but diarrhea in the sink is a bridge too far.

Poop in a pie is their line in the sand.

Congratulations Brian!

The song thing has something to do with the number of eligible movies -- if there are only 5-7 songs, it's 2 or 3 slots [I forget the exact rules, but they said it was going to be a light year].  What seems weird is that they picked a song sung by Segel and the one Muppet nobody knows rather than the big group tune that could've had everybody and been a huge showstopper.

I can't believe how wide open the acting field is.  I could see almost any nominee winning this year (except Hill; nothing against him, just the competition).

if they chose "MAN OR MUPPET" is because that's what Disney wanted.  They throw their support behind a song and push it.  I guess they picked "MAN OR MUPPET".

Congrats, Lynch.  Super super cool.

I might be the only person on the planet who didn't think bridesmaids was very funny.  It was alright, but it just didn't hit with me.
