Vergara doesn't have a ton of range, but they definitely played to her strengths, and her Fran Drescher impression was surprisingly impressive. This was the most they've used the host in a long time, no?
Gilly was terrible as always (I assume since Wiig is leaving, she wanted to do it once more), but Almost Pizza and the shampoo sketches were so great, they made up for it.

New girl was great. The recently hired female cast member or the Zooey Deschanel sketch? Almost Pizza made me laugh harder than any SNL commercial since Happy Fun Ball.

I don't think she was a great host as much as they did a good job giving her sketches to play loud screamy people. Which I guess she is good at?
Come on, she was funny. She also seemed to enjoy herself and knew her lines better than most of the regular cast.

She's not bad. I liked her monologue better than her sketches.
The news interrupted the Almost Pizza sketch and put an image of a burning gasoline tanker on the freeway at the side of the screen. So, that sketch will always be ruined.

That was really stupid. Especially since they were mostly showing parked cars and panning shots of black nothingness.

It's one of my favorite fake commercials they've ever done.

I don't think I've ever seen the host of the show in that many real commercials during the show before. That was weird.

Look at Jay Pharoah gettin' the most screentime he's seen since the Charles Barkley episode! I thought it was a pretty fun episode. But I can't remember an episode that has had as many impression based sketches as this one. I guess that's the future of the show. I also realized that if Samberg and Sudekis really do leave this season, every sketch next year will star Taran Kilam. I'm not ready for that.
Oh, and I am officially over that Gotye song. Wolfe once said that it was 2012's "Pumped Up Kicks" and meant it in a good way. I would like to adapt that, but for the bad way.

Just stick to the much better (and Canadian) version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NF2edxy-M

Now.
Non stop since December I've been burdened with that song. It was cool for like the first two months, but now, requests for it come from obnoxious chicks who think they're hipping me to new shit only they know about. "I don't know if you have this song or not, but it's by *Gaultier* but spelled Gotye. "Somebody That I Used to Know." Can you play that? Oh, and then follow it with "Starships" by Nicki Minaj." That is the hell that is my life as a DJ.... I am the dick DJ who then plays this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPwHRNWJVvk

Wow. Surprisingly Hip Hop still lives. I seriously wants me a Nate & Strang's Music Thread.

Every sketch already does have Taran Killam. I'm surprised he's still a featured player this year, because I feel like they put him in more sketches than a lot of the people that have been there for years.
