You like SPIDER-MAN 3.  It's all relative.

I like it better than 2, which I don't like.

Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly sing at the Oscars

John C. Reilly is a national treasure.

I think he's kind of a one-trick pony whose one trick annoys me. Both him and the EASTBOUND AND DOWN guy, I could happily never look at again.

But again! I said that despite this, I think this may be the movie that helps me get over this feeling.

The funniest thing I've ever seen Reilly do is in the Magnolia bloopers.

It is funny, about the Donkey Kong era; they kind of have to "cheat" and make the graphics and animation better than they were, in order to tell the story. Like, kids today would just not be able to actually buy the idea of games THAT primitive. It looks like they did a good job, though of kind of combining the "best of breed" traits of different games of the time period: POPEYE was, in 1982, the most advanced looking and smoothest animation of characters, SINISTAR (and PAPERBOY) had a bunch of digitized "real-voice" clips, and DONKEY KONG had that addictive "climb the screen while the villain throws stuff" gameplay. But no game ever put *all* those things together; the memory required would have been prohibitively expensive to mass produce units for arcades.

It is telling, how in making fake retro-games in the style of the time period, modern retro-designers always fudge a little bit and show deeper color palettes and more pixel depth because the actual constraints of the day were so constraining.

Speaking of DONKEY KONG knock-offs, did anybody (I'm looking Fart-with-a-beard-ward and Dalton-ward) ever play the Intellivision Donkey-Kong inspired game by Imagic, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST?  That consumed whole days-worth of my 5th grade life. Check it out:

The best was that you could leap to your death and fall the length of the screens you climbed:

I know this is odd, but I really want to see a cameo from the Pong Paddle. Be it from Arkanoid or Super Breakout, or any Pong game, that thing deserves some rep.

I recognize all the characters in that poster save for one. Who is the purple rhino? And where is he from?

TWO Q-bert guys? That used to be my favorite arcade-conversion-to-home-play. I had it for the Intellivision, and it was one of the only home versions of an arcade game that gave you at least the same kind of gameplay, if not the same graphics and sounds.

Millipede with the track-ball is every bit as good on the 2600 as it is in the arcade. Same with Dig-Dug, Joust, Galaga, Defender, Asteroids, etc. Pac-Man, not so much.

But yeah, Q*bert is great on Intellivision/colecovision/2600. I prefer it over the nes port.

Dig-Dug for Intellivision was great and better than 2600 because there was no blinking. BURGERTIME on the Intv. I prefer to the arcade version, actually. I never saw a trac-ball in person for the 2600, just in magazines. The only 2600 arcade version that I thought captured the essence of the game was VANGUARD.
