I try to avoid reading Tarantino scripts before seeing the movie just because I want to enjoy the movie first but I occasionally can't help myself. Like with Kill Bill and this. But both were really fun to read. I think this might be Tarantino's best script. It's his most emotionally involving to me at least. He's created at least three classic characters too. Dr. Schultz might be the most likable character of all time.

I thought so, too. I hope that he had locked Christoph Waltz down before he wrote it, because I cannot imagine anyone else playing that role. I can see a bunch of different possibilities for Django, Candle, and Stephen, but if Waltz can't do it, they'd have to shut down production.

Has Samuel L ever played a weasel character? That's going to be interesting to see. I didn't picture him as Stephen.

Haven't read the script, and I doubt they really compare, but 'Jungle Fever'?

Actually I think the closest is probably his part in Strictly Business.

Now I totally see it!

Elba is great, but I'm still hoping for Smith just because I like when major actors do things outside of their comfort zones. But it seems like no matter what, this movie is shaping up to have one of the best casts ever.

Remember when Inglourious basterds was going to star Stallone, Arnold, Willis, etc? I wonder what the cast is going to really look like. Either way I'm sure its going to be awesome.

I didn't picture Sam L either, but he'll be great. And Leo would be great. And Elba would be great. This is going to be great.

And Tarrik, that was before a script was completed. Plus, they were probably never in contention seeing how the soldiers were all jews.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I read a QT script, I try to figure out which role he'll put Jackson in. This one is
an elderly black man who swears a lot.
And since Redd Foxx is dead, it would either be him or Eddie Murphy.

I don't see anything about what Samuel L Jackson has done in the past that screams weasel house slave. Expect for Strictly Business of course. And since he doesn't really have actual parts in Kill Bill, Death Proof, or Basterds I didn't automatically assume he'd have one in this. I pictured Brent Jennings. Although Eddie Murphy would have been great, although a little distracting probably.

I only read the script once, but he really didn't seem all that weaselly to me. More like a guy who abused the limited amount of power and freedom he had to make everyone else's life hell.

We're running the risk of getting into spoilers here, so I'll leave it at that.

And I agree that Eddie Murphy would be distracting, but then again, so would Will Smith. So I'm hoping for Elba as well.

I don't think Will Smith would be distracting if he's the star.

Why hasn't Tommy Davidson's name been mentioned for Django?
