I liked his cowboy voice, and I thought it was interesting that they managed to have a sketch about two guys kissing where that didn't come off like the joke was "Hey, watch these two guys kiss."  [Of course, ten minutes later, they had to have one, but you knew they would sooner or later.]

I thought he was great. He even made messing up funny to his advantage.

Is it me, or is it painful to watch somebody try to make the other person on stage corpse when it's just not working at all?  [Even though I liked that "gay film critic" sketch overall.]  I saw that once or twice with Ferrell in the Lovers sketch, too, where it became like his mission to get somebody to break character, and it didn't work and the whole thing just felt weird.

I actually forgot she was on the show at one point.

I'm pretty sure Dave Grohl had just as much dialogue in the show as she did.  She didn't even have the most lines in the monologue.

I've seen them live 3 or 4 times, and they've never disappointed.

I love Penelope but I can see Gilly go. Where the hell is Target Lady these days? Movie, please.

I like Penelope as a concept, but I think she's run her course, and Gilly never had a course to start with.

Am I the only one who translates this as "Kristin Wiig is leaving SNL at the end of the season"?

There are tons of other "weird middle aged lady" characters for her to play.

Oh, sure.  I hope she stays, I generally like her (though certainly not every time out).  But, she's been there six years, she's got a prominent movie coming out, and she's publicly announcing she won't do at least her biggest recurring character (I mean Gilly).  [Now that I think about it, I guess she quietly retired the Target lady at some point, huh?]  It seems like they're easing into her leaving.  I could be totally off-base, that was just the first thing I thought when I read that article.

Or maybe she wants to do new characters? Hopefully?
