This may be totally unfair, but you know what thought occurred to me as all this unfolded? Is "Wow. Martin Sheen must be a shitty dad."
Which I don't want to believe, because he's Jed Bartlett. But he's also the evil guy from THE DEAD ZONE, so maybe I DO want to believe it.

He was also Jason Wynn in the SPAWN movie. What an asshole!

Michael Douglas's son is doing 5 years for dealing meth. And he was the AMERICAN PRESIDENT!
He was also Gordon Gekko, so you never know with these things.

This may be totally unfair, but you know what thought occurred to me as all this unfolded? Is "Wow. Martin Sheen must be a shitty dad." I mean, I'm sure he's tried. I heard they looked into trying to get a Britney Spears-style conservatorship but there's really no precedent for doing that for a 45-year-old man who didn't already have problems/fame as a juvenile and whom (shockingly) doesn't have much of an arrest record. Most actors aren't probably great parents -- it's a profession that lends itself to estrangement by nature -- but I don't think there's much he can do in this situation.

I'm sure his adolescence made LESS THAN ZERO look like DOBIE GILLIS.

Not more so than any other Hollywood kid though, wouldn't you think? And they're not ALL falling apart.
Conversely, many addicts have perfectly nice parents. Addiction can stem from all kinds of sources, at a certain point there's really nothing anybody can do to help if the person won't help themselves.

I mean, look at Emilio -- perfectly nice guy, no real problems, successful director, just had a baby, etc. So what's the diff?

You guys can keep acting like BACK TO THE MINORS didn't exist, but it won't make it true.
That said, here's hoping for MAJOR LEAGUE 4.

MAJOR LEAGUE 4 is kind of a dumb idea. All those guys are too old to be ballplayers now, and Lou Brown is dead. What, are the Indians going to have a half-dozen coaches and managers?
If they do make it, they'd better get a move on while we still have Bob Uecker.

Maybe it'll be a road picture, with Charlie Sheen driving a wacky Muppet-style bus around the country to round up all his old teammates and get them to Cooperstown in time for their Hall of Fame induction.

That's what I was going to say. Based on public personae, at least, Emilio and Charlie prove that parenting can be a real crap-shoot.
