Okay, from now on I'm gonna use "think piece".  As in "it's a think piece about a mid-level band struggling with their own limitations in the harsh face of stardom".  I hope you're happy.

Only if you "get it" though.

Yeah, give 'em a break.  They already have one Hunter Thompson on their payroll.

"There's the machine called the mojo.  It only takes two hours to get one page!!!"

That one was kinda an eye roller.

H&K was pretty funny.  The theater was empty, so that took a bit away from it I think.  Thankfully the NPH stuff wasn't nearly as bad as previous posts about it made it sound (perhaps it was toned down from test screenings).  I'm glad they kept his bit short this time around.  The egg fight and blowing smoke towards the camera were some of the better 3D effects I've seen.  I kinda dig how they do one of these flicks every 3-4 years, and actually letting the characters grow (while making the surrounding events more and more absurd).

Yeah, but considering what a cheesy writer Crowe can be sometimes, I commend him for how little "Hey, it's the 70's!!!" type jokes he had in there.

What was that other line?  "If you think Mick Jagger is gonna still be strutting around at age 50 you've got another think coming!!"

DAZED AND CONFUSED and, oddly enough, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER are the only 2 period piece movies set in periods that I remember living through that accurately capture a lot of the overall feel of the time period and don't always feel like a big costume party.

I didn't live through the seventies, but DAZED AND CONFUSED is so authentic-looking and feeling that as a kid I just assumed it was filmed in the seventies. Like, of course it was. Look at it. Its made exactly the same way they would have made a movie in 1976.

It also led me to wonder, time and again, "Just how fucking old is Ben Affleck? He's aging amazingly."

I was shocked when I found out it was made in 1993.

The only thing that shocked me more in high school was the day I realized that Kevin Pollak and Mark Linn-Baker were not the same person.

I remember showing my Dad DAZED and at the end, I was like what did you think?" And he just said "That's *exactly* what it was like."  That level of authenticity I think is the most amazing thing about that movie.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. (EDIT: never mind)

And I disagree with you about ADVENTURELAND (and not only because I actually went to the real Adventureland during that time period).  I felt like you could take one or two characters out of that movie and it could have taken place now.

He's talking about period pieces that were made after the fact correct?  Fast Times isn't that.

My favorite period piece movie set in a time I didn't live in = A CHRISTMAS STORY.

Unless you watch it with my Dad. "That's a '68 Chevy! Totally off!". "That Oldsmobile wheel rim didn't have that many lugnuts!".
