CNN says Romney is winning by one vote 99.8 reporting. That is so awesome if that holds.

CNN immediately sent an alert that Romney's leading the polls in NH for next week. I love when the media is already over Iowa and the votes aren't even finished being counted.

I know ALL politicians are just trying to sell you something so they could be in charge, but it is usually a lot more of a polished sell. He reminds me of William H. Macy in FARGO, he seems so needy for it.

Looks like Perry's gonna take his kickball and go home.

He was the guy who scared me the most at first but who I will  now miss the most. That maple syrup thing and the Brokeback Jacket were two of the best moments in political breakdowns I've ever seen.

It's pretty amazing how no one has talked about Romney's Mormon shit yet. It's kind of awesome how all these bigots have to bite their tongues just to spite Obama.

It's funny listening to right wing talk radio this morning.  They're all giddy over Santorum.

I wonder how the others will attack him; the stuff that makes him odious is not stuff that conservatives find bad. "Hates the gays, wants to outlaw contraception, man on dog, etc."

They'll just continue Michele's attacks now that she's out.

It's funny listening to right wing talk radio this morning.  They're all giddy over Santorum.

C-Span Radio had the head of the Conservative Christian Coalition or some such organization on air last week to explain his endorsement of Santorum.  In between callers challenging him to state where exactly the bible says that life begins at conception, a texter asked why his group cares who the president is, since one guy getting elected over another wouldn't prevent them from living life according to their beliefs.

"Well now, God invented three institutions for us to keep sacred: Family, Marriage, and Government.  We simply want a return to a federal government based on fundamental religious beliefs."  I'm pretty sure if the host of the program had coughed "shariah!" just then, the guy's head would have exploded.

Matty Taibbi sums it all up pretty good:

In the wake of the Tea Party, the Occupy movement, and a dozen or more episodes of real rebellion on the streets, in the legislatures of cities and towns, and in state and federal courthouses, this presidential race now feels like a banal bureaucratic sideshow to the real event – the real event being a looming confrontation between huge masses of disaffected citizens on both sides of the aisle, and a corrupt and increasingly ideologically bankrupt political establishment, represented in large part by the two parties dominating this race.

How weird is this in a Republican primary? I think it will backfire pretty badly and just drive Republicans to like Romney more. This is the type of shit that gets them off.

That "key administration post" is easily the least impressive part of his -- or anyone's -- resume.
