My friend (who is Jewish) worked for him and said he was a really great guy if a bit eccentric. One things for sure- these tapes will make it difficult for him to work for a while. Even William Morris dropped him today.

My college roommate worked for him during the marketing/release of the Jesus picture and to this day talks about how great he was. It's insane how he really seems to be two different people. There's obviously something wrong here and I hope the dude finds the help he needs somewhere.

Man, I am really glad I saw EDGE OF DARKNESS before this story broke. Now I can pretend he was killed in a car accident.
I've also heard great things about him from people who've worked in his offices. I feel the opposite of Josh: his mental illness outweights his assholeosity.

Yeah, I don't know how down with this plan Glover and Russo are going to be after all of this.

Well, if he is really great to work with, then I think I know what is going on here: he clearly thinks that he owns the women that he is with. When this girl didn't put up with that it clearly made him insane. He thinks of them as property, not something that he has to justify himself to. At least, that's my theory. He CLEARLY has issues with women, no matter what is the underlining factor.

That sounds about right to me, too, based on what we "know."

DerickA he said "A pack of niggers". "A pack" he said. Lethal Weapon 5 will never happen.

He resents this woman for "making" him leave his wife of... what was it? 30 years? He resents her for the same things that attracted him to her in the first place. Tons of powerful Hollywood guys are like this, but most are much more discreet.

The same wife about whom he said, on national TV, "I love her, but she's going to hell."

People who abuse their spouses are often pleasant office or business associates... especially if they're the one's in charge. I mean, if you want to be all Buddha-level compassionate, EVERYONE who abuses anyone is mentally ill and, on some level, a tragic figure. But I really have no sympathy.

No, I agree, and I don't think he's deserving of sympathy. But he seems more unhinged than your garden variety abuser; he seems seriously mentally ill. Which of then of course is made worse by the fact that it sounds like he grew up with a Father as cuckoo bananas as he is, who put all sorts of rotten shit into his head. It's only by God's humor that he's not a raving maniac on a subway. I'd put dollars to donuts the film he just shot never sees the light of day now.

Is this new film the Beaver puppet one? Shame, it looked liked it could be interesting. Saying that though, the puppet is all I know about it. Is he playing someone mental in the film? Cause that could maybe help their marketing a bit? Although I guess doubtful.

The sad thing is that his movies will continue to make big money internationally, this thing won't be a big deal in a LOT of countries.
