I guess it's inevitable to be a bit crazy if you're so powerful and loved for over 30 years, it doesn't help if you're also actually mentally ill.

Is there no room for being a bad person? Which is not to say that he can't ALSO have mental issues, but one doesn't excuse the other. There are people who have mental issues who are not violent, abusive, rape-wishing jew-hating homophobes.

I think we should, as a board, decide his mental state.  The world is waiting.

I think I, as a jewish person, have earned the right to determine his state of asshole-ness.

He has a multitude of issues, most of them directly tied to his crazy father.  I feel bad for him.  I think he can be helped but I seriously doubt he'd consider seeking help/

Those are reasons, but not excuses, from my perspective. Lots of people have crazy fathers.

I vote that he's a victim of the same crazy Hollywood conspiracy that Randy Quaid was talking about.

We're through the looking glass, here, people!

Yeah.  But still when I hear those tapes I see a sad figure more than anything else.

Of course there's room for being a bad person, and I'm not saying that he's a victim of anything; by all accounts, he's verbally and/or physically abused anyone unfortunate enough to get near him. What I am saying is that he's hit some sort of perfect storm of being raised by a total asshole, having a severe chemical imbalance in his brain (that he's used plenty of legal and illegal substances to self-medicate) and being pampered and propped-up beyond his wildest dreams, by people who rely him on financially.

How anyone could hear him howl like that and say, "Oh, there's a guy in control of all his mental faculties" is something I don't get.

There are far better ways to spend our time than to discuss exactly HOW flawed Mel Gibson is.  He's awful, he's crazy.  Let's talk about chicks, man.

CHECK IT OUT!

Maybe it's because I'm young or non-usasian but I never got into the action star worship (or even to think he's actually really rad) thing.  I liked Braveheart for the dumb fun it was, the Lethal Weapon films were replayed so much with awful dubbing it's hard for me to see them as anything else as fodder for Canal Cinco. In conclusion, Trey and Matt  got it right once again.
