You guys, I've been rewatching Season 2 on Netflix.  It's so wonderful. Do we not live in the golden age of television?

We do. The 70's had great movies, the 2004-? has great television.  And LOUIE might actually belong high on that top 5 list we all did.

As great as season 1 is, season two is SO far ahead of it that it seems like a different show.

The Joan Rivers episode in particular gets me.  She hasn't acted in a while but she's a little stiff, but her final speech about why they do stand up is just stunning.  I mean- the woman is summing up her entire life's passion there, eloquently.

And the Stanhope episode is killer too.

In particular, I think the second half of season two is where it elevates into "People will talk about this alongside ALL IN THE FAMILY in twenty years" territory. Season one is great, and the first half of season two has some really good episodes, but basically the entire second half is just spellbinding.

Episode 6 "Subway/Pamela" is one of the most brilliant 1/2 hours of TV ever.

I just went back and looked at the episode list for season 2... I REALLY need to go back and re-watch them.  Jesus Christ there are so many great shows in there.

The opening dream sequence in Subway/Pamela may be the greatest thing I will ever see. It's brilliant.

I know it gets some hate, but nothing I've seen on TV in the past year moved me the way the end of "Duckling" did.

What soulless creature could hate that?

That might be a top ten sitcom episode of all time, IMHO.

Can you really call this show a "sitcom".  Not sure what I would call it in but to call it a sitcom is an insult.

It's sort of the ultimate sitcom. Let's not be snooty.
