I *knew* it was about this podcast before I even opened this thread.
I've been super impressed with Marc Maron's podcast over the last few weeks. I heard him promote it when he was on O&A a few months ago, but I've been going through the archives and he's a really great interviewer. This Carlos Mencia thing just takes it to another level.

Sounds interesting, and I'll listen to it later, but really: Is anybody who's going to listen to this not already fully aware of what a joke thief Mencia is?

It's beyond that, it's more of a deconstruction of a pathological liar. Like that episode of This American Life they based "The informant!" on, you see he believes his own lies and how much he's suffering because of it, he talks about the Joe Rogan video like people talk about getting hit by a car.

WTF is quickly becoming much, much more than Some Comedian's Podcast. Marc Maron isn't just one of my favorite comedians at this point, he's kinda one of my favorite people.

I haven't listened to this yet but I used to listen to Maron's Air America show morning daily. It was great.

The Robin Williams one isn't nearly as confrontational as this one is. Thievery only comes up in one small part, and its a very "Hey, what are you gonna do..." kind of thing.

Fair enough, but, having finished it, it's a hell of an interview. Williams is so eager to please whoever he's with that extended interviews with him become amazingly candid.

With the Williams one though, he spills a lot of things. I'm not that interested in it being confrontational. -------- Yeah, Marc's sitting down with Robin Williams for an hour. No big deal. So what do you talk about with an international comedy superstar? How about alcoholism, cocaine, divorce, joke stealing, heart surgery, fame, Richard Pryor, jealousy, and Twitter? Yeah. That should do it.

As I recall, he does acknowledge some degree of responsibility/guilt/what-have-you over the thievery. As much as any joke thief would, anyway, and certainly more than Mencia is (so far, anyway, as I'm listening to Part II as I type this).
