Sort of balances out that nasty Apocalypse business.

"The film is expected to be done in 3D."

Ugh.

Having a release date before they have a finished script is always a sure-fire recipe for success.

They've had release dates for the first two before the scripts were done. They're going to write all this year. Film all of next year and then release it. Seems like plenty of time.

Also, I looked up this date as the most likely date of release, because I am a nerd.

Also, the DP, Wally Phister ruled out 3D a couple of weeks ago in an interview. He said he talked with Nolan about it and they don't want to do it. It might, however, be shot completely in IMAX.

I would say almost all studio movies have a release date before a completed script.

I hope it's shot completely in IMAX. Every big action movie should be, I can't go back. 3D is fine if they shoot with it in mind.

I also read an interview with Nolan where he explains why he didn't want to make 'Inception' in 3-D, and his reasoning would seem to apply just as much to Batman stuff...  I wonder what Finke's basing that "expectation" on.

Who said they didn't have a completed script?

Wow, Summer 2012 will contain THE AVENGERS, STAR TREK 2, the new SPIDER-MAN and BATMAN 3. And that's just what's been set thus far. Now that's a summer movie season right there. Summer 2010 must have inadequacy issues coming out the yin-yang.

2012 is the new 1989.

This year's tentpoles were developed pre-Avatar, but when everybody in Hollywood was aware that Avatar was shaping up to be a game-changer.  2012 is really the first post-Avatar summer.

Well, every single one of those movies was already going to be made regardless of AVATAR. But if all four wind up in 3D, then I'll concede the point.
