It is also nice to know that Debbie Gibson is as awful as I imagined her being when I was in high school. The one thing that makes Clay seem reasonable is his insistence on 1) the mural being not an important element 2)if it is to happen, he has to approve it in at least a concept sketch and 3)abort it if it becomes a problem.

I love that you had preconceived notions that Debbie Gibson was awful.

Do you remember the rise of Debbie Gibson? She was the mall-girl equivalent to Michael Bolton. When you're in 8th, 9th grade and you're defining yourself to yourself by the music you like and more importantly, the music you DON'T like, Debbie Gibson was like the devil. What was out around that same time? Like, Uplift Mofo Party Plan by the Chili Peppers, Truth and Soul by Fishbone, that kind of stuff. Subpop's rise to cool was around, like 1988, there was overlap there, too.

I had her first album on cassette. Electric Youth did not win me over. I dig that she transitioned into a successful broadway career, but I wont be buying a "best-of" cd anytime soon.

It is not my world now, but in 8th grade and 9th? There were kids who wouldn't talk to one another because of DC/Marvel loyalty rifts.

I liked Debbie Gibson as a kid. I was what you'd call a Debbie Gibson FAN. Tiffany too. All that shit.

I wanted to relay this awesome BLOSSOM joke in elementary school and I asked a crowd of kids "Hey, anyone see BLOSSOM last night?" and everyone emphatically went "NO!!" and I laughed and went "Me neither!".
The worst parts of childhood were when people were dead set against things you loved for an easy target to mock. Josh, it sucks that that was perpetuated in your youth.

I think we're just sort of years-separated; I was in like, freshman year of high school when Debbie Gibson was a thing.

I was, however, madly in love with Susanna Hoffs such that I'd listen to Bangles songs on the radio, even with no video component. It was one of those "oh, this is just actually painful to the point of exhausting" kind of crushes.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
18h I love show "Law and Order" but the @MRbelzer casting is the worst ever. No talent--unwatchable!
18h @MRbelzer is a stone cold loser with no talent--why did they ever put him on "Law and Order?"
18h Whoever wins today, remember that tomorrow we still have a country struggling. Our work is not done until America is strong again.
11h Well, back to the drawing board!
11h We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. Our nation is totally divided!
11h Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us.
11h This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!
11h Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble...like never before.
11h Our nation is a once great nation divided!
11h The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.
11h Hopefully the House of Representatives can hold our country together for four more years...stay strong and never give up!
11h House of Representatives shouldn't give anything to Obama unless he terminates Obamacare.
