Yeah, I'm not sure how on earth that happened.

When that first came on Tonight, I wasn't really paying attention, then I saw Leno on TV which automatically sends me into "blind anger" mode.
Re-watching it now, it's actually pretty good.

It's disappointing that Letterman did this. It's like when Obama is civil to Bush. I know he has to be but it makes me cringe every time.

It would have rubbed me the wrong way less if Conan had been there too. I wonder if they asked him. He could have been outside a window crying.

Yes. I don't approve of anything that helps Leno.

If it's true Conan didn't do it because they didn't have the time or whatever, then Conan's people made a bad choice. It would'v been funny.

I would be surprised if any of them were paid more than scale. Leno did it because it helps rehabilitate his image which is more valuable right now than any amout they could have paid him. And I have a theory as to why Dave did it. I think Leno's marriage comments must have really gotten to Letterman's wife. Notice Dave quit making Leno comments right after Leno made that joke. Dave did it as a way to clear the air and try to ensure there are no more jokes like that.

They were so funny together in the early to mid 80s. Leno's stand up was brilliant back then. Whatever sniping they do at each other they will always have the bond of having come up in comedy clubs in the 70s, and appearing on lame sit-coms like Mork and Mindy and One Day at a Time. From that standpoint I wasn't surprised to read that this was Dave's idea, and that they greeted each other warmly.

I agree. It was "shocking" and funny. But as some posted that it would have been better if Conan was there, I disagree, I think that would have made it odd and sad.
