I agree. It was "shocking" and funny. But as some posted that it would have been better if Conan was there, I disagree, I think that would have made it odd and sad.

Jay's proven that he's more than willing to cash in on being made fun of (Kimmel). Letterman just proved that he's willing to cash in on/with Jay. The goal of the commercial was for me to watch Letterman, and they really failed on that one. The only thing I've taken away in this whole mess is that I need to watch more Kimmel.

Yeah, I watch Letterman a bunch, he's still really funny. His sketches aren't, but he's the best interviewer around.

Yeah the sketches are really forced, but the thing that really keeps me from watching is that the audience no longer laughs at jokes- they applaud and cheer. I don't know but I suspect someone is hitting the applause sign after each punch line. |

Same here, it wouldn't have been sad and odd. It's the troubles of three millionaires, these shows aren't that funny and there are way funnier shows and comics that don't get a 10th of the attention these guys get.

Sorry, that's what I was getting at. It's really weird. You know what it reminds me of? The State of the Union addresses (Yes, I know this was happening on Letterman first). Every time Obama opens his mouth Pelosi is foaming at the mouth to stand up and cheer. That's what Letterman is now. The worst was when Seinfeld came on to apologize for Richards. The crowd was so ready to cheer that they had no idea that they weren't supposed to be cheering. I don't mean any of this personally. Please don't take it that way. I just think that if you really dislike a person then there is no way you get in a room with them. If you do then a) you are easily bribed or b) you didn't dislike them so much. That's all. |

I'll get over it once these geezers are put out to pasture in a few years. The ad wasn't very funny regardless. Although I'm sure my grandparents thought it was a hoot. |

I agree. I can't watch Letterman. But the whole thing was all basically for show. Conan couldn't cut it in the ratings against Letterman. Who cares? He got 45 million for his troubles and will most likely wind up on cable where you can watch him every night. I'm not gonna hold a grudge against millionaires on TV. |
