I believe it was a fake Southern accent.  [That is to say, the character was faking -- obviously, we know De Niro isn't Southern.]

Yeah, it was basically a Dubya reference.  Guy from New England with a public Texan affect.

You know what's really bizarre is that I saw MACHETE at a screening a day or two before it opened and I can remember in minute detail every mundane thing that happened before I saw it. I remember they made us wait outside and it was a really hot day and I was worried that the sweat I could feel trickling down my back was going to soak through my shirt and gross out everyone behind me. I remember the exact spot in line where I was standing and getting Panda Express to eat while waiting. I remember there were two douchebag guys behind me who apparently hadn't seen each other in a long time and were telling each other where they were working now and what their mutual friends were up to. But I don't remember two things from the movie, even after people name things that happened in it. It's like MACHETE was neuralyzed out of my brain.

I'm surprised at the tone of that article. This is clearly for fun. Insert the shrill "booing" of that lady from that one episode of SEINFELD here.

That trailer looks weirdly low rent (no explosion jump type stunts) considering Rodriguez is doing this one himself.

It feels to me like a MAD TV parody trailer.

I'd much rather get a Planet Terror 2.

Thanks to Arrested Development, all I can focus on is how the Spanish v.o. in this trailer pronounces Gooding's name as "Cube-a" instead of "Koob-a".

Rodriguez and Todd Phillips sure are God's gifts to awful, disgraced celebrities.

While trying to get through "SPY KIDS 4," I remember killing TIME (heh, get it, because all the time in the world, right?) thinking about how DIY Rodriguz has gone from rebel without a crew to "we'll fix it in post" to "eh, we'll find the movie in post" to "fuck it, let's just have fun and who really cares anymore?"

It's nice to see that he's remaining consistent.
