It's weird, it's a whole new studio.  WB owns NIGHTCRAWLERS, Paramount is mentioned in this article.

The actual remake being Platinum Dunes seems new. What's weird is no one is talking about how there are two movies called Monster Squad being developed by two different studios. Even on geek sites nobody has caught this. Some even start off by saying what a huge fan of the movie they are but apparently have no idea that in October a movie called Monster Squad was announced. I thought WB bought remake rights to Monster Squad just to use the name but I guess not.

Remaking THE MONSTER SQUAD is a strange idea. In the '80s, it was still plausible for kids to be into Dracula and Frankenstein, but I don't think it is anymore. Maybe since Platinum Dunes is doing it, they can use Freddy, Jason and Leatherface instead of the classic monsters. That would make both the remake and Platinum Dunes seem much less pointless than they each presently do.

They should get Kane Hodder and Robert Englund to play Jason and Freddy. Get the internet nerds' support.

I'd definitely be excited if they got Kurt Russell to reprise his role.
