Just saw the second half of the season in one sitting, and this is really a show that's improved by back-to-back watching.

Really brilliant, really original, great comedy. Parks and Rec is warmer and more human, but Community is groundbreaking on a lot of levels and also purports great and very intrincate relationships between their characters. Great comedies that will be remembered a long time from now, I predict they'll be stepping stones to huge hits that'll be blander, more digestible to the general public.

I don't think it's us being old farts, but the gap between mainstream aesthetic and what I like widens each day.

Some of these seem *maaaaybe* a little personal. What are the odds this turns out to be Dan Harmon?

The SIMPSONS and MacFarlane guys are sore that COMMUNITY got nominated in the Animated category. I suppose they do have a point, but those COMMUNITY episodes were animated, so I don't see why they shouldn't be eligible as individual achievements.

They're not necessarily mad that COMMUNITY got nominated per say, but it's that COMMUNITY is allowed to cross categories when they're not.

I'm sure they'd be allowed to cross categories if they did a live action episode.

One thing that's certain is if it's COMMUNITY vs. modern-day SIMPSONS and MacFarlane shows, we know which horse the Internet will back.

Yeah, why wouldn't they be allowed?

I'm sure they'd be allowed to cross categories if they did a live action episode.

The Academy's statement makes it sound like that wouldn't even be necessary.

' However, if an animated series opts to enter in Comedy Series rather than Animated Program category, then the individual achievement categories are open to them, e.g., writers can enter Writing for a Comedy Series category. '

So apparently they have the option of competing against every other show on TV instead of just other animated shows, they just choose not to.

Hasn't Family Guy been nominated for best comedy?
Or are they mad because Community could be up for best comedy AND animated at the same time?

Marc Maron interviewed Harmon on Attack of the Show, and opened up about getting canned: http://tvline.com/2012/07/10/community-creator-dan-harmon-discusses-being-fired/
