That is a weirdly wonderful sentence (minus the Harmon getting canned part).

I wish I could say that was intentional...

http://www.avclub.com/articles/dan-harmon-reveals-exactly-what-happened-that-time,84164/An interesting anecdote from Harmon about Chevy ruining the ending of the 8-bit video game episode. But more intriguingly, he gives his original choices for Pierce, before Sony pushed Chevy on him, as Fred Willard, John Cleese and Patrick Stewart. All of whom would have been amazing, Stewart especially.

' despite his absence, some of his storylines may still be in play in the fourth season, such as the idea he had for The IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade to guest star as a friend Abed meets on the Inspector Spacetime forums, spurring jealousy in Troy. And in fact, that's exactly what seems to be happening, albeit with the recently cast Matt Lucas instead of Ayoade. '
Man, that went from awesome to crap in one sentence.

If you read the reddit thread, you can see that Harmon wanted Bill Murray as Jeff's dad.
I'm just gonna go over in the corner and cry now....

Have Murray and Chase ever been in the same room since Caddyshack?

Like that was ever going to happen. Murray seemed to barely know what SEINFELD was in a recent interview, I doubt COMMUNITY is on his radar. PARKS AND REC wants him to be Pawnee's mayor and I want him at my birthday party, but none of this is in the cards.

Several times. They did a skit on SNL back in the late 90's (the last time Murray hosted, I think) that was all "Caddyshack" quotes.

I still love that the only thing of SEINFELD he watched was the last episode.
He gets DVDs of current SNL sketches that people he knows there think are funny. So he has cast favorites.

Admittedly, the plan wasn't for Bill to be in the video, he was just in that alley banging on a drum and they happened by.

Aykroyd needs to try that next.

Maybe they can Bowfinger Murray into Ghostbusters 3 somehow.
"Boy, Venkman sure plays a lot of golf in this one."
