I thought there was some overlap between the end of his relationship with Karen and the beginning of his relationship with Pam.

They must have had this idea for awhile because Will Ferrell's assistant last year also had a crush on Jim, so I'm assuming this was originally planned for her until she left the show.

Why did she leave the show? She was good. She'd be too young to be any kind of real threat to Pam, this one they're oddly hinting that it could go sinister.

I was wondering the same thing when this current season began. They put her on the big cast poster for the new season last summer, so I thought she was a permanent addition. EDIT: I went and found it, just to make sure I wasn't misremembering things. She's even more prominently placed than Kevin, Oscar, Toby and Gabe. Wonder why she didn't stick around.

No, I think it's going to center around Schrute Farms and his extended family.

Apparently Spader isn't coming back after this current season. That's too bad. Although the show has gotten significantly better in the last few episodes that he hasn't been in, so maybe it's not too bad. I guess this explains why they brought back the British lady for no discernible reason.
Hope they have a big finish planned for Robert California. He was a fun character in spite of the show never figuring out what to do with him.

They should give B.J. Novak more to do on the show. He's always pretty great whenever they give him more than one line per episode. He was the only really good thing last night.

It's dead beyond me caring if they wrapped up proper at this point. The Phyllis opening gag made me go "awww" though. Maybe they should make it a daily comic strip with just the side characters.

I've always thought that Andy was the worst thing to happen to the show. I think I was proven right last night.

It'll be interesting to see what this show looks like next year. Kaling and the Toby dude are leaving, Wilson has the Dwight spin-off, and there were reports recently that talks had broken down with Helms, Krasinski and Fischer over renewing their contracts. This on top of Spader leaving. We might soon see Oscar adjusting a toy on his desk in the credits.
