I'm trying to find the old discussion on season 2, cuz I'm just watching it now on dvd, but no matter how I search, I can't find it. I guess I'll just go by the dates.

Anyway, in having searched the site from the beginning, it's sad how much everyone was looking forward to the first TRANSFORMERS, considering how it turned out.

Was there---  something you wanted to say about MAD MEN?

I don't remember any real discussions about it here.

For some reason, I thought I remembered Dalton saying something about
Peggy's baby, and the episode with the priest
, but I guess not.

I don't really have anything to say about the show yet, I'll finish the season first. I just assumed there was a discussion, but couldn't find one.

Some people over on the Cat's Ass board seemed to think that Peggy still had posession of her baby.  I had to disabuse them of that notion.

I STILL think it was a bullshit move to make whether or not Peggy or family had the baby for all of the season.  That said, I'm chomping at the bit for this thing to begin (in just a few minutes!)

I knew as soon as I saw her sister was pregnant in the hospital flashback that she had given up the baby.  I was surprised that no one really seemed to pick up on that.

I loved Pete and Mrs. Campbell's charleston dance routine last night.  They clearly worked on that for a while.

The cut to Don's reaction to Pete's dance was priceless. I loved the comparison of Harry, Pete, Roger, and Don's dance scenes.
Harry = insecure
Pete = affectation
Roger = id/drunken lust
Don = complicated

This show is ridiculous.

How about Don and Pete's reaction to Roger's little Blackface performance?  Priceless.

Also, the man Don ran into in the bar area was meant to be Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton hotel chain.

The final shot of this week's episode, with Sally watching the news alone in her tutu, is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I feel so sorry for her.

This season has been good, but a bit disjointed in a way. Each episode is great and self-contained, but I don't feel like they're clearly building towards anything yet. I think Pete might still be my favorite character, though. I loved his line to the jai alai guy about how it seemed like the sort of investment his father would go for.

Betty gets alot of crap from internet people for being a bad mother, and she is.  But I think Don is just as bad a father.  Who the hell would leave their child alone in front of the TV after such an emotional outburst.  I know child psychology wasn't then when it is now, but I would think simple parental instinct would kick in at that point and you would know your child needed comforting, not television.

The first three episodes were all character development.  This was the first episode where the stories started being advanced.  It looks like someone bought Kitty some gaydar for Christmas.  (I stole this line from a post on Television without Pity, BTW)

Does it count as having gaydar if the secret gay person prances and changes their voice to super gaaaaaaay? That was a little much.

Why did they get rid of the only character who was legitimately likable in Freddie? Well maybe Sal and Peggy are slightly likable because they are train wrecks but everyone else is interesting in how they are all awful people.

Well, he was prancing to imitate that woman in the ad.  Kitty clearly thought he seemed a little too good at doing the imitation!!
