I read the first book a couple years ago. It's not terrible but the author is kind of shameless in how he jacks every beat from Potter. Instead of Hogwarts there is Camp Half-Blood, there's a Ron, Hermione, Snape, and Voldemort. It gets ridiculous. I hope the later books are different.

I just read the wiki page for it and you're right, it looks like a Potter clone. When I saw the beginning of teaser I thought it was for a Harry Potter spoof movie.

I really enjoy the books.  There definitely are some POTTER-like qualities to it, but I think there's some good stuff in them.

At the new Harry Potter movie, there is a trailer attached to it for FAME that does that thing that some trailers do that makes you think it's one movie but then does a 180 (like the SCOOBY DOO trailer makes you think it's a Batman movie). They make it look like Harry Potter which is stupid, because they're obviously about to watch Harry Potter. I do hope they keep the shots of trains, owls and castles in FAME though.
