This I don't get at all.

I just related to and enjoyed his off-camera sense of humor as much as I do his on camera one is all.

From what I've read, as many reviews said they admired him after watching it as didn't.

Conan's appearance on The Nerdist Podcast had parts where he really spoke to the qualities that were on display in Conan O'Brien Can't Stop in an interesting way, I thought.

I enjoy them both, but they really need to move on.

I kinda like when Letterman goes into it, because he clearly relishes further proof that Leno's a scumbag, and he has enough distance to realize that it's all kind of ludicrous.

Conan, on the other hand, is still talking about it like it happened 10 minutes ago. I know it was a traumatic thing, but it's been nearly 2 years and he has a new show that gets total freedom to do. Get over it, buddy.

You can't take a talk show interview, especially one with Letterman, as proof that Conan still thinks about this constantly.

It's been 2.5 years, actually. But how could he not talk about it at all in that setting? He didn't spend the whole segment on it or anything.

Letterman should have George Lopez on and see how he feels about all this.

Like Letterman, he'll be talking about it for the rest of his career. The difference is that Letterman typically uses it to make a self-effacing joke ("Bypass surgery: it's when doctors surgically create new blood flow to your heart. A bypass is what happened to me when I didn't get The Tonight Show") whereas Conan talks about it like it was Vietnam.

I understand the argument, but why is Conan supposed to be this super strong he-man with steelclad character? He's a comedian and an artist, it's ok for him to be whimp. It hurt him a lot, he wanted something and he didn't get it, anybody who'se a human being can relate to that and derive some laughs from seeing him digest his ego-thrashing publicly. Money has nothing to do with it, Duck Tales told me it doesn't buy happiness.

Fair enough, but if one of my friends was pursuing more or less anything, artistically, career-wise, romantically, whatever, and he was still bitter about not getting it 2.5 years later, I'd tell him it was time to get over it.

I think Conan handled it better than Letterman last night.  He seemed like he didn't want to talk about it.  But Letterman was pretty awesome with his constant insisting.

He got it, though. He just did a lousy job with it.

Yeah, Conan didn't seem even remotely obsessed with it.  Letterman is loving it and it's hilarious.  And what else would they talk about?  Of course they were going to spend the entire segment on that subject.

Did anyone see Conan's long interview with Jack White? The two of them have an interesting relationship. They met in a bowling alley just before The White Stripes became popular and have been friends ever since. While I don't totally buy into White's whole idea that musicians that use pro-tools and nice instruments are "cheaters," it's interesting to see how Conan interprets it. I get the feeling he's influenced Conan a lot post-NBC.
