What is Jack talking about he lost her? Didn't they just do it up a week ago off island?

I'm disappointed that when a lead character finally seemed curious about the weirdness of the island, started asking questions and proactively seeking answers to them ("Who is this Jacob fella?  Why don't you age?  Let's roll, gang!"), it turns out to be a mystical clone who (I assume) already knows all the answers and has no particular motivation to share them.

No, because if the bomb theory works and flight 815 lands in LA, then they don't go back in the past and kill a SHIT TON of people with reckless abandon.

Which is a paradox.  Which is why I still stand by "whatever happened, happened."

Yeah, if Jack's plan succeeds, then Jack saves everyone he promised to save. Jack finally wins, in his mind. Makes perfect sense knowing his character.

Also, "do it up" is my new euphemism of choice.

I don't think it'll end up with Locke "becoming" someone else, I think he was that person all along.

I really hope the other guy is just one of the previous Leaders and somehow he figured out how to reincarnate himself. Seems way cooler if he represents men fighting against the guy pulling the strings, basically God. It fits with Locke's character, trying to destroy (who he thinks is) the person responsible for everything that happens, when in reality he seems like just a personification of the "the flow of things", aware of what will happen but without the power to completely change the course of events.

It also fits with Locke's character to be manipulated by someone else (the smoke monster who told Ben to do what Locke says) and then get fucked over in the end. Locke kicking Jakob into the fire doesn't mean he knows who's "coming", it could be just him acting like he's got everything under control, something Locke does a lot too. It'll be fun if he ends up now becoming the unwilling servant of the "evil side of the island".

Maybe next season will be the Losties trying to save the world from the island, they go back to their present time but everything's all post-apocalyptic.

Maybe Walt is to Jacob as Lock is to Anti-Jacob. And I assumed when Jacob said "they're coming" he meant the people who were re-setting the past.

I'm thinking "all along" from when he landed on the island and suddenly started walking again.

I don't know, I think the Island (or Jacob) just heals people like when he brought Locke back to life. Otherwise that would mean cancer-free Rose is Jacob's Enemy too.

No, I mean, all along, since birth, like re-incarnation. But he was dormant, yet still influencing Locke's choices until they took his dead body to the island.

Seems like he could have reincarnated himself as someone born on the island to the Others or the Dharma Initiative and saved himself some airfare and a few decades.

I was thinking Neil Gaiman

I want to thank you for suggesting Neil Gaiman. I'm half way through American Gods and I love it. I don't know how I missed him for so long.
