Artie was also excellent breaking Rodman's balls, either Artie has found new vitality by way clean living and losing weight or he's on coke and/or uppers.

Agreed on Artie becoming very racist and homophobic in his jokes, but I think it comes with the enthusiasm (drug-free or otherwise).

Anyone catch Artie on SNL last night?  Weird.  Looks like he lost a ton of weight.  Funny seeing him walk out right in front of the cast member who looks just like him.

I haven't seen last night's SNL, but didn't he just tell a story on the air about how much of a douche Lorene Micheals was to him? I wonder if he heard that and decided to make nice. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I doubt that had anything to do with it.  Norm was on doing Burt Reynolds on the Celebrity Jeopardy! skit.  I'm guessing Artie was there as Norm's friend, and all the visiting celebs were thrown into that Billy Joel skit.

Given that Will Ferrell hosted and Maya Rudolph was on, it wasn't a very funny episode, I thought.  I would have expected it to be better.

I got the sense during the goodbyes that it was Darryl Hammond's last night.  Does anyone know?

That's what it seemed like, but I don't think it's been confirmed. It probably should be his last show. He seems like such a relic among the current cast.

However it was apparently Don Pardo's last show as announcer.

That last sketch was bizarre.

I didn't know that about Pardo.  Pretty crazy.  SNL was a late career gig for him, and it lasted 34 years!

Is that why Hammond didn't seem to bother doing anything approaching a Dick Cheney impression in the opening?

Hammond has had a tough time of it in life.  He was on Stern a few times and he was pretty dark.  But yeah after 13 years he was pretty much on auto pilot for the last couple.

I watched MADtv last night because it was the last episode, and it was terrible. Meanwhile, apparently norm was on SNL. Goddammit.

It's funny that Artie was on SNL last night, he did a really short really lame pre-taped goodbye type thing for MADtv. Did I mention that it sucked even more than I expected?

Ehhh, Norm was sort of crammed in.  You didn't miss much.

While trying to find Artie's farewell message to Mad-TV, I found this old drug PSA sketch he did on the show. Something tells me every word of this is true:

Artie Lange warns against drug use

Yeah a good percentage of the things he was saying there are likely true.  Funny piece of tape!

I thought it was funny that the crowd reacted more to Artie Lange than Paul Rudd or Anne Hathaway [not fair to compare them to Hanks or Norm or Poehler or Rudolph, who had already had their reactions].

Also, if I hadn't mentioned this a few weeks back, SNL is having too many damned guest stars.  But I loved seeing Hanks.

Hey, wait, this isn't the right thread for this!

Maybe in New York Artie is as famous as Tom Hanks. Or at least he has the most vocal fans.

Artie SNL

It was the first time I paid attention to what anyone was doing during the final send-off, and it paid off because Artie and Norm did something weird: at the end they jumped off stage and run off l just bef.

Edit: also looking for the clip I found this, it's Jim Breuer telling a  great Norm Story, involving Chris Kattan.
