I want a tally of people that like this over SUPERMAN RETURNS. Fair warning, I wouldn't admit it if you did.

I'd definitely rather watch it than SUPERMAN IV. SUPERMAN III will always have a soft spot for me, but I've learned to look at it as kind of the ABBOT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN of the franchise.

I like it way more than SUPERMAN RETURNS. Like, comically more. It seems what's taking shape is that people either like one or the other, but not both.

When forced to pick between "deadbeat dad* who learns a lesson" and "murderer of probably a million+ people," I pick that first one. Because at least he seemed to learn some type of a lesson.

*Popular interpretation, not mine. I've always maintained that he was the victim of a colossal misunderstanding. A merry mix-em-up, if you will!

I actually think both labels are unfair.

I was literally excited in an undulated way for the past few months but that McWeeny review was a giant red flag.

To be honest he and Harry both like such weird things that both reviews I read for comic values (mainly Harry) and then ignore.

I actually think Moriarty is a good reviewer on movies that he wasn't involved in doing press for.

Berardinelli is my go-to guy. I think he's pretty insightful when it comes to most things.

I enjoy reading him and think he makes his points well, but our tastes our wildly divergent.  I find him a little too dismissive towards movies that are entertaining, which is something I value even/especially in my art films.

That's completely fair. I'm generally pretty closely aligned with him, but there are definitely times where I'd agree.

He was fairly complementary towards MAN OF STEEL, actually, and that really surprised me.

Put me down as a Superman Returns diehard. I'll take Routh's Kent and good Superman moments even with the stalking and horrible Lex plan over the empty nonsense that was Man of Steel.

I enjoyed RETURNS a lot more too.  It had a lot of fun in it.  This new one I only really enjoyed when Russel Crowe was on screen, and that's just odd.

Today I heard a nine year old refer to Man of Steel as "Superman 2".
