The last few weeks have been fine but this isn't a great show. Come on. Wolfe mentioned the weird way the ending was shot but has anyone mentioned how terrible that "cooling room" set was? There's a lot to dislike here. Many of the performances are rough. One of the charms of Joss' previous shows was how likeable and insanely cool the cast was. That's just flat out not the case here. Yeah, that Victor kid does a good Topher impression but Topher is fucking annoying and unfunny.

Well, for the cooling room thing, are we really going to rake them over the coals for having no money?

It's a flawed show, but I think it's really gelled into something pretty great over the last few weeks. It probably is too-little-too-late when you look back at how long it faltered, but it really managed to win me over in the last month when I wasn't at all expecting it to. And I disagree about the cast. The only actors delivering spotty performances are Dushku and the dude who plays Ballard (seriously, was this guy any good on BSG?). Granted these characters aren't even close to as much fun as the previous Joss-show characters, but I think they've all come along nicely from where they began. I couldn't stand Topher last season, but I really like him a lot now.

Penikott Junction?    He did a good job of playing one of the more boring BSG characters.  He rarely had a scene with any character who wasn't supposed to be more upset than him about whatever was going on, so his job mainly seemed to stay out of their way.

Ballard, Boyd, Topher, Dushku....they're all so bad it's unreal. Miracle Laurie is awful. Who is really great here? Williams is OK, I guess, but no one here is charming or interesting. The Boyd twist was so stupid that it's hard to take seriously.

Felicia Day is pretty.

These aren't charming characters, I agree. That's one of the show's biggest problems. But they all grew on me. I didn't even realize it had happened until a few episodes ago.

It's so weird to be in the position of defending this show. This time last month, I wanted it gone more than anyone.

But Miracle Laurie is indeed awful.

SPOILERS

Really good finale, felt a bit rushed but...

Never thought I'd feel bad that Ballard died.  Victor (and Sierra) were great as always.  Topher was great the split second before the pulse went off.

If I hadn't seen Epitaph 1 I would have been totally confused with the "new" characters.

The ending was a bit abrup... errrr, arrrr.

I'm way more interested in the Epitaph show than Dollhouse. Can we just have that show instead?

Great finale. It did feel a smidge rushed, but the post-apocalyptic world was so cool, as was the way they folded in the main characters, that it didn't really bug me.

You guys are using very kind words like "bit" and "smidge". That was insanely rushed. I guess everything happened that needed to, but it was like watching a real finale on fast-forward. Everything happened too quickly to really have any impact. I know there was no chance that Fox was going to give them two hours, but maybe they should have planned to allot the last two of the guaranteed 13 episodes to tell the future story. If that meant we had to live without the episode where Echo was the insane mother or the one where she was the serial killer, I think we'd have done just fine.

But I suppose it's fitting that DOLLHOUSE was as unfulfulling in death as it was for the bulk of its life.

Felicia Day is pretty.

I never noticed it before today, but she looks like Mary Lynn Rajskub's kid sister.

It's funny that Whedon can half ass a show this much and it still turns into something watchable. Whedon knows how to hire a writing staff and with a decent premise they could have had a decent show from the beginning probably. The finale was kind of interesting only because it was a sequel to a DVD only episode which is both cool and stupid. I also missed Boyd acting like he was 9 years old instead of acting insane.

Crappy Friday Night DVR hole will now be filled with Caprica.

I dug it, but it wasn't very satisfying.  Totally agree with Wolfe that had they cut out the doll of the week stuff and expanded on the last two episodes, it would've been a whole lot more solid.

I know Dushku isn't a very versatile actress, but her "Paul's dead" scene was pretty good.  Zack Ward was really great and made me wish he was part of the cast for the whole show.  Same with Felicia.  Loved Alpha's return.  But sucks that it was wasted on this finale.  Could you imagine how great it would've been, had he made the turn over the course of a season?  Or even, in the pressed for time last two episodes, had he come to the rescue of Echo in last week's episode.  Though, I guess it steals from the reveal when they find him down in the house.  I just wish they had more time to work with that concept.

A very flawed show, but I'll miss it.

And always sounds like she has just the slightest cold.
