If they don't have Murray, they should have a whole new team. No passing of the torch. Could be the same universe, whatever, or a reboot. But it's just not the original GHOSTBUSTERS without Venkman.
I'm with you, but Aykroyd's continued existence rules that out. But if it were only Ray as the mentor, I'd be better with it. I don't want Egon in the movie either if Venkman isn't. Maybe throw Winston in there, just because I like Ernie Hudson and I assume he probably really, really wants to do it. That would also make some sense, since he and Ray were the only two still trying to squeeze a few bucks out of the Ghostbusters name in II.
But I'm kind of turning on Murray now. I was on his side when the script was written by the YEAR ONE guys, on account of those guys wrote YEAR ONE, but now that there's a new writer and a new script being written, he can't wait and see how it shapes up? I wish it weren't such an imposition for him to do something for his old buddies and his fans. It's not like he can't jump right into the next Wes Anderson movie or some boring Oscar-bait thing immediately afterward to cleanse his palate.
