Anyone else catch this?  It's ok so far...pretty bitchin cast though.  Ron Perlman, the fat dude from Memento, Kim Coates, Charlie Hunnam (from Undeclared) and Peg Bundy.  Plus FBI Assistant Director Skinner!  Chiusano should like 16% of the cast right there!

The biker show, yes? I saw a bunch of promos for it during THE SHIELD yesterday, but it didn't look very enticing to me, Skinman and Peg notwithstanding.

Speaking of which, it still bums me out that, even after all these years, online and off, no one but me gives a shit about THE SHIELD. Damned if that's not maybe the best show I've ever seen. It's certainly the only show I've seen that actually does get better each season.

I'll echo the SHIELD love.  I just marathon-ed season 6 from Netflix in preparation from yesterday's season 7 debut.  Where's the SHIELD thread anyway?

I still hold out hope for a Dutch/Billings spin-off detective show.  Sometimes it feels like they are on a separate show anyway.

Weren't the SONS OF ANARCHY the band that inspired the LONE RANGERS to break into KPPX and get their song played?

Have you seen Seasons 1-5? I only ask because THE SHIELD requires as much knowledge of the past as LOST does. Season 6 is incredible, but it would be gibberish to anyone who didn't see the earlier years. Or, at least, Season 5.

I don't know if I'd watch a whole show about Dutch. He's a great character, but I think I'd lose interest with him in the spotlight. It'd feel more like a typical (if very well-written) cop show.

I have a feeling in my gut that Dutch is going to be the guy to bring down the Strike Team in the end. But don't quote me on that.

I'm with you one THE SHIELD.  Over the past year I've watched all 6 seasons on DVD or Itunes.  This is the first (and I guess last) season I've watched live.
Of the top of my head I can't think of a single weak episode.

Yeah I've seen all the seasons, except for when season 6 originally aired I caught some episodes sporadically, so Netflix came through in the clutch.

The show really likes to amp up the tension every season; I'm hoping we can see Whitaker again in some capacity before the finale.

I may be crazy but Chiklis daughter plays his daughter on the show, no?  Thought I read that somewhere.

The Shield is definitively one of the shows I've always wanted to check out, and by check out I mean illegally download. I've only seen the pilot, which I remember you said wasn't that indicative of how bald guy's character really is like.

Also, we as Wire-fans must take heed and notice that we're starting to sound like Jehova's Witnesses. The show, besides being good or smart or whatever, it's also hilarious. I've probably wouldn't have stuck around all seasons if it weren't by how the characters riff on each other and also curse a lot.

Have you accepted Major Daniels as your personal savior? Although, I guess that would make McNulty the patron saint of the homeless.

Meant to watch it last night.

Am I the only one who will never be able to look at Perlman again without imagining EVERY line he delivers as coming from Hellboy?

Sort of. I've always felt that the character, as established in the episodes since the pilot, wouldn't have done something quite that awful and rash. It's difficult to discount what he did in the pilot because the entire series still hinges on the aftermath of that event, but the character has since been shown to be a shrewd, frequently brilliant manipulator, who actually has a stronger sense of morality than the pilot indicates. I've always felt there was a weird feeling of discontinuity between the Vic Mackey of the pilot and the Vic Mackey of the series.

Oh, and rando, that is Chiklis' daughter as Mackey's daughter. She has hair, so you probably didn't notice the resemblance. Also, I seriously doubt that Whitaker will be back this season, but I wouldn't mind being wrong on that.

The second season premiere hit a series high by a mile, growing 95% in the adult demo compared to its first season premiere.

"Sons" was seen by 4.3 million viewers and earned a 2.8 demo rating.

That represents the largest season two premiere gain for any series in FX's history ("The Shield" returned to a 3% increase and "Nip/Tuck" had a 33% gain).
