Someone tell me: exactly how insane, awful, and wrong am I for thinking it would be better if Spielberg made this next movie as a Last Crusade Redux with Ford in the Connery role and Shia in the Ford role?

I don't know what the precise amounts would be, but you'd definitely be all three of those things.

Oh well.  It'd still be better than Crystal Skull.

Very.  On all three.

I read last week Ford made $50 million dollars on Crystal Skull.  I'm sure that has something to do with the whole gang coming back together.

If it actually happens, and actually ends up awesome, I'm SO remembering this thread.

The time of INDIANA JONES has come and gone.   INDIANA JONES PART 5 would be horrible.  15 year later sequels never turn out well.

I disagree with that blanket statement.  Of course they can make a good INDIANA JONES movie if the right talent was involved.  Certainly Spielberg can still direct.

I also don't think there is a shelf life for sequels, as RAMBO and ROCKY BALBOA and THE COLOR OF MONEY kinda prove.

I'm with Brian... hell, they had a fantastic script from Darabont that would've been worthy of the original trilogy.

You can't reheat a souffle.  It is very rare that projects like that turn out to be any good.

Except when they do like Star Trek.

Or ROCKY BALBOA or RAMBO or BEFORE SUNSET or THE COLOR OF MONEY.

True, these are the exceptions and not the rules... but it can be done.

Most of those had different creative teams, so it isn't really the same kind of thing.  And I wasn't talking about reboots like BATMAN or the new STAR TREK.

3 out of those 4 mentioned had the same creative teams.

ROCKY, RAMBO and COLOR OF MONEY were all directed by different people from the originals.  And BEFORE SUNSET doesn't really apply to the kind of movie we're talking about here.

I said in my post that it works sometimes, but usually it is a terrible idea, and INDY 4 proved that.  Harrison Ford looked so uninterested.
