I'm working on the avid at work after my shift to practice cutting spots. So far, important people have liked my moxie.

I just finished designing characters for a show for Disney Channel UK, have to wait and see what happens there. Not expecting anything though.

Still drawing the comic strip for Edge magazine, but I'm wrapping it up soon. (You heard it here first!) I've said all I can say and 50 issues is a nice round number.

So now I'm on page 44 of a horror script I'm writing. It's just for practice, but I think it's pretty good and I have more fun doing that than I do drawing. I'll write another one when I finish this, definitely.

Oh, that reminds me, I made a 70 minute cut of The Phantom Menace a few months ago. It's awesome.

Me and my cousin in Coventry,UK are planning to shoot something in August. We're currently debating whether or not we should invest our efforts into a short or push ahead with a feature idea. The short idea makes more sense, but the idea of actually making a feature sounds too fun to not attempt.

Also, about an hour ago I was given a PA job on Public Enemies
... but, since I've been in LA for nearly a week, I'll be working overtime at the cinema to catch up, and I've no-one who can help with the workload... so I had to turn it down.

Needless to say, I'm looking for a day job of a more flexible nature. I love running a cinema, but it's so demanding and it gobbles up so much time, and I don't want to find myself crying about it when the next opportunity comes along. I know some will say that PA work isn't worth the effort but I love being on film sets and I'd like to make some friends on them.

For those of you who stuck it out at a day job to pay the bills until you could land a better gig - what sort of things did you do to accomodate everything?

I don't mean this as advice for that specific situation that you were in, but sometimes you just walk away from the day job for the cool temporary gig and figure that, worst comes to worst, you can always find a new day job rut somewhere.  In fact, sometimes, if you get to tied to one specific day job, it's actually good to walk away.

Yeah, sure you can. It's big file though (2.5gb, because it's HD) and it's in wmv format. I guess I could put in on DVD for you if you PM your address.

Some things I messed up:

- the new opening crawl goes a bit funny when it gets smaller
- the Neimoidians aren't dubbed because I can't find a foreign language other than Spanish and I used that for Jar-Jar
- I left out possibly the best 20 seconds of the movie by mistake.

It's still worth it though, if just for the pod race with no announcers.

I'd put it out on a torrent, but I really want to fix those things first.

Sean is 100% right..."day jobs" are the ones that you can tend to find. If you get a great opportunity, or even just one you're excited about, you got to bounce. I freelanced for years, and it was tough, but when things got tight for money I just found gigs to get some extra cash.

Also, I was a manager/projectionist for years....man, that's an intense, rough, gig with long hours. It's hard to do that and commit to other things.

You'll sort it out.

K, what I'm working on.  Let's go---

1. As of last week, THE SIMS is in at Fox.  Hope they like it.

2. Got the go-ahead on going to script for a pilot on a TV for a studio.  I wrote the first seven pages of it this afternoon, love how it's going.  It's all outlined and such.  I think anyone that digs X-FILES or BUFFY will love this.  So Chiusano, this is for you.

3. Writing ANGEL:AFTER THE FALL # 12, which is really coming along well. Number 8 comes out tomorrow, do please check it out.

4. Writing SPIKE:AFTER THE FALL # 3, which is also going swimmingly.  I wrote 5 more pages of that today, in fact, love how it's going.

5. Getting pages of art for EVERYBODY'S DEAD # 5 every couple of days.  Not really work as my job's done (save for editing the dialog once it's all ballooned up), but it's definitely fun.

6. Gearing up a possible series of internet shorts for when I'm on hiatus with ANGEL/SPIKE stuff.  I really miss filming stuff.

In the next few weeks I'm getting a promotion/department change at work, so that's pretty nifty.  Looking forward to something new (instead of HTML/DBA stuff, it'll be more copy writing, which will be a nice change of pace).

Creatively I'm in the middle of two projects that are pretty outside the box for me.  One is a board game, so I just need to scrape together the funds for the prototype and the other is a really fun Facebook application that I think anyone would enjoy (and find useful).  You will all have to add it.

I'm working on getting a job.

I guess I'm gonna have to go part-time to be able to support myself and actually start writing.

But, that feels so icky considering I graduated Magna Cum Laude and worked my ass off during college. I worked 38+ hours a week during college and 80% of that was during the weekends.

So, I worked too hard to make 7.50/hr. I hate the economy.
