Hmm. I'm going to assume based on the Academy Award nomination that you're correct. You too, James Smiley

Okay, well, then I need to cut exactly 14 pages out of it. It used to be 129. That was rough.

You should get Robert Ben Garants and Thomas Lennon book on selling scripts to studios How to Write Movies for Fun and Profit. it's really funny.

I have it. You're right, it is really good. I can't help but feel like I'm missing something reading it on the iPad, though. Certain jokes aren't formatted properly, and they just come off as weird.

Like a joke where the whole page should be blank. On the iPad, its like a one inch blank space.

I am one small, wrap-up chapter away from finishing my first novel. Word Count tool tells me I have written 92,186 words thus far. It should only be another few to put it to bed. It is all done, really, just the denouement left and a little end coda to match the small prologue. All total, I'm guessing it will land somewhere around 95K words, which is basically the goal I had set out for it when I started. I wanted it to be the same length (and heft, if an actual book-book) as THE HOBBIT. And THE HOBBIT is 95022 words.

If it does get bought, I imagine editing would bring it down some, but we'll see about that when we see about that.

By this time tomorrow night, if I can stay up again, I will be a novelist. Holy shit.

Congrats man. That's quite an accomplishment and I know how much this novel means to you. Simply put: Good on you.

Cleaned out my office yesterday and am heading out to unemployment today. Tough times. But yesterday I had at least sixty employees ("we're" laying off well over 100 people) stop by my office, which was nice and heartwarming.

Had a talk with my boss before leaving and he said "You're too honest to be in sales". The worst part about what he said was that he's right. I've never compromised my moral integrity, but I don't know if it's possible to be successful without doing so.

Yuck. What a day.

Done! (First draft, in any case, before edits.) But still. A complete manuscript. 94,666, so just 356 short of HOBBIT length.

Wow.

My interview with Garry Shandling is now up!

I think it's good.  The only problem was he place a strict two hour time limit.  The format of these interviews kind of demands they be longer.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

(If you want to watch the whole thing click the "Chapters" tab)

god... why do these men feel the need to fuck up their faces so much?  It's distracting to watch.

Watched the Jeffrey Tambor as "Hank" highlight.  So far so good.  I'm going to try and find time to check out the whole thing.

I started with "Part 2" first and it's really terrific. It's very rare, if ever, that he opens up like this. He's a fascinating guy, and you really held your own.

This is the kind of interview that as a fan I'd always hoped he'd give, and outside of his own DVD special features and sort of the WTF with Marc Maron episode, he never does.

Great job.

Thanks guys.  The other thing is that during a break early on I was told by my boss who was watching "Sometimes he pauses to think and you jump in.  Let him think for a minute"- So I hope I don't step on him too much.
