I want to change mine, but the only way it will accept it is for it to be so small that it's almost invisible. I see many of you have decent-sized avatars, so how are you doing this witchcraft and will you teach it to me?

I had the same problem.  I believe this was what I found.  If you upload it from your computer it only works if it's "invisible" small.  If you direct it to grab it from somewhere else online (I think I used imageshack) then it works fine.

First, right-click on the avatar/picture you want to use.

Click on "properties".

Copy the entire URL/address, the file extension should end in .jpg

Log back into here and click on your user profile.

Click on your User Profile.

Scroll down to upload from URL, paste the URL.

--I don't think you have to use the "' text for this to work.  I'm also a little reluctant to help, the last time I did.....well, you've seen Fart-with-a-beard's avatar.

Let me know if you have any problems.

I tried that, but I keep getting the following:

Unable to upload file

DEBUG MODE

Line : 251
File : usercp_avatar.php

Any way around this?

It might be an invalid/deleted image.

I'll try updating mine and see if I have the same problem.
My next guess would be to pm sadecki.

I've tried it with different images from different sites, but I keep getting that message.

It's not a big deal or anything, I'd just like to pretty up my posts if possible.

I just tried a dozen images, none worked. I either got your same error message or, "This image contains no data".

Don't try to upload the image. Just link to it on another website. Click on "profile" and scroll to the very bottom. Where it says "Link to off-site avatar," that's where you put the URL of the image you're using. Then you can have it be as big as you want.

Well, I'm at least glad to hear it's not a matter of me being a technological incompetent.

But now it's super big and squeezing the posts a bit.

Yeah, I'm still tinkering with it. It will be smaller soon.

How is he going to spend the $12 if he is dead?  This gentleman's plan is terribly flawed.

Everything Chiusano has ever posted is all of a sudden 100% right. I love that avatar.

And, for that matter, how come he's not behind the counter Stan Makita's?

Let me know if my new one is over-large.  I don't want to squeeze out all the funny in the posts.
