Kate avoid Harold and Kumar.
I thought the first one was kind of funny. The 2nd one should have Kal Penn banned from the Obama administration. No intention of watching the 3rd. But you're making it easier for people to hurt other people when you do it. If being able to say 'fag' is important enough to you that you're going to do that, nobody's going to stop you. So much word, as usual. That's why I can't even clientele with people like this. It belies an underlying attitude of hostility or at least, lack of empathy.

There's one thing in there that really surprised me. Surprised NPH went along with it.

Okay, what is it. If it's as bad as the dickwolves thing, though, don't tell me. I'm pretty sure I have blocked out everything from the 2nd one, it was so awful.

NPH pretends to be a homosexual in order so that this girl will allow him to give her a massage. He gets on her back, spits on her, and starts to go at it. She tells him to stop, loudly, and he is pretty violent. He keeps going for a couple seconds before she throws him off. I think he even says something like "You know you want it". It's worse than it even sounds.

The past four or five pages of this thread are silly.
I think they're really interesting.

Yeah usually I don't take note of that kind of stuff but this seemed a bit out there. Also they lumped cocaine in with pot and extacy as a fun drug that's no big deal. That's some late 70s early 80s shit right there.

That's gotten to be a thing lately, I've noticed. EASTBOUND AND DOWN was the first time it really stuck out to me, but I've noticed it in a few mainstream comedies since. I'd argue though that ecstasy is no less a "harmless fun drug" than cocaine.

Was it meant to be funny. Did people laugh?

I've noticed this in movies A LOT lately. It seems like there's a coke-culture in Hollywood that they assume is also everywhere else and it always throws me right out of any movie.

This kind of goes along with what you're saying, I feel like these movies seem to think we've gotten past the backwards stupid way of thinking that cocaine is dangerous and problematic, and now it's okay to joke about it with a degree of detachment that doesn't really seem to match up with my worldview at least. I'm actually a little relieved, with all these movies coming out like this I was starting to think I was a square for still keeping coke in an entirely different category from pot and stuff. Also, even though I mentioned EASTBOUND & DOWN, I don't really have a problem with Kenny Powers doing blow all the time. Partially because I think they're actually going for that late 70's/early 80's vibe that Dalton was talking about and partially because I know they weren't going for realism, but literally everyone I know who's at all like Kenny Powers spends a lot of their time doing blow and listening to Widespread.

SNL did it somewhat, but the rip off show FRIDAYS which ran from 1980-82 was all about it. They joked about coke as much as SNL joked about pot. To me it was strange to see that in Harold and Kumar. I don't want to spoil anything but allot of the laughs seemed to be "recognition laughs". As in "HA! I remember the time I was that blasted!!"
