Just checked..... 1,032,917 views for that clip at the moment. Paramount's gotta be happy with that, right?

I even saw a story about it in the news section of the paper. It's definitely gone from cult concern to completely mainstream.

Yeah, that was the first time Conan's show has been relevant since it premiered.

Wasn't there a SIMPSONS teaser before anything else was done?

I remember the LOOK WHO'S TALKING TOO trailer that had the Richard Pryor dialogue on it, but he was eventually replaced by Damon Wayans.
There was apparently a teaser for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE on THE GRINCH when it was a Universal movie, and I'm not even sure if I saw it. Does anyone else remember?

According to Wikipedia (citation needed), THE DA VINCI CODE's teaser was released before they'd shot anything.
That awesome X2 comicon teaser was released after they'd only been filming for a week. That warrants an honorable mention.
I entered into a contest in 1994 to get a walk-on extra part in THE MASK 2 starring Jim Carrey. It came on a little advertisement inside the VHS copy. Does that count?

Santa Clause 3
Hmm, I was thinking it was Santa Clause 2. I know that 2 used the exact same teaser trailer as the first one with just a different title- "Santa Clause 2: The Escape Clause"..... which would end up as the title of the third one. Wow we live in a world with three Santa Clause movies. That shouldn't make me happy.

Oh oh! We're missing the obvious one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk_x9W1xKngThe question is, has there ever been a teaser more incorrect than that one?

I remember that ALIEN 3 trailer and it scaring the shit out of me. Like, to the point where I was bugging my parents about what is in space that could kill me, but it had been far enough from the viewing of the trailer that they had no idea why I was asking about it.
What did the X2 comic con teaser have?

I remember watching that ALIEN³ teaser before DUTCH and going nuts. They should have just made that movie. The weird thing is, if you read up on the complicated development process it took to make ALIEN³, and how they kept discarding ideas and writers and drafts, it being set on Earth was never an idea that's mentioned by anyone, so I don't know why that teaser even exists. But it's nuts that they had no idea what the movie was going to be about ten months before it was released.
Incidentally, I also remember seeing the trailer for PURE LUCK before DUTCH and believing that it was a spin-off of LETHAL WEAPON with Glover playing Murtaugh.
